Wobbly/loose wing mirror glass
Noticed today that the drivers side wing mirror glass is loose, does anybody have experience of fixing the problem?

There might be others who suggest something else, but if you can I would if its that loose see if you can work it till it comes off, clean up the old adhesive behind it with spirit, then re apply using mirror adhesive, has to be mirror adhesive as anything else erodes the silver backing

Agree - prise it loose before it comes off and damages your paintwork
Re afix with sticky pads
Not heard of the issue on the E89 but plenty of threads about it in the E85/86 section

Thanks for the replies, if I’m unable to wiggle the glass fee does anybody know how to remove the glass along with the mechanism? I’ve read articles on E85/86 but found nothing for an E89.

Wobbly/loose wing mirror glass
Not good news for this one....
I had the same issue right after I purchased my car.
BMW had to replace the entire wing mirror.
Luckily was under warranty, I think the invoice was £297 but was covered.
Nothing seems that user serviceable on these.

Surely you can replace the glass? Maybe the dealer didn’t want to tryDeepseaskateboard wrote: ↑Mon Mar 05, 2018 6:49 pm Not good news for this one....

Perhaps it was easier for them to replace.
A wing mirror does not really cost £297!! It would probably take longer to open it up and figure out all the small parts.
Either that or some of the smaller internal parts were damaged.
If I had to do it myself, I would buy the glass and have a look taking it apart.
