Voice Control
The voice control on my E89 35i doesn't work. It always says it can't hear me. Gives it 2 goes then gives up.
Should it work? Does it work for other people? I have a dealer warranty on the car so if it is supposed to work I will get them to fix it.

A friend of mine has a 4 series and a broad Scottish accent,, its bloody hilarious watching him trying to use it, it comes up with everything but what he is asking, I have no issues, which really goads him, but it does hear him, so unless you are whispering or doing a sergeant major with it, it should work

Disagree, mine works brilliantly. You probably have dust build up in/on the mic (wherever that is)..

I find it as accurate as my Merc system which in terms of tech is 6 years newer.

Mine works without issue, It's hardly Alexa though is it. To say it's brilliant is a stretch :p It's still rubbish in my partners M4
Thankfully 'ok google' is my go to option in both

iDrive with Nav.
I haven't missed it at all. Not sure what I'd want to use it for. What I can't do from the steering wheel I have programmed into the 8 buttons anyway. If it should work I'd like it to work though.
Wouldn't it be the same mic as used by the bluetooth telephone? I have no idea where it might be but it's clear enough when used for phone calls.

Your probably right Will, do you remember when you did the carly work on my car, you were waiting for a remap. What figures did you end up with after that was done??Lazza wrote: ↑Tue Feb 27, 2018 1:41 pmiDrive with Nav.

Strange that Voice isn't working.
If it's an iDrive set-up then either check with your local BMW dealer to see if it "should" already have it and if it should then they should be able to sort it.
If it wasn't specified at factory then you'll need an FSC code to activate it, which is BLOODY expensive, and I'm talking £100'sss which is somewhat stupid for something that is already there!!
Sorry that's not good news but I've found all of this out by searching for exactly the same thing on my non-iDrive unit, and as I've no idea how mine would work that way (no way to input an FSC code) I've now given up on Voice and just use the Bluetooth as that does work.
(And for the code guys, the FSC is NOT the VO $620 code)
The microphone is located under the grill in the top of the upper steering wheel cowling.
