Roof opening from key fob

Post by Tysonwills » Wed Feb 21, 2018 11:38 pm

My roof normally works from the key fob but now suddenly has stop working.
Works ok from dashboard switch but not the key.
Could it be the key battery is low it still opens and locks the doors

May be a low battery fob voltage also. You need to cycle your keys, I swap mine every month to ensure they are kept charged.

How do you cycle key fobs? Is it possible to recharge them?

I believe he just means that he uses one key fob for a month, then changes to the second key fob for the next month, and so on. This way neither key fob loses it's charge too much while unused. The fob is charged while plugged into the car via inductive charging if it's anything like the E85/E86 charging.
Weren't the later key fobs (LCI onwards?) fitted with non-rechargeable batteries so that they could easily be changed when flat? I'm sure I read there was a changeover from rechargeable to non-rechargeable in the E89's

Thank you, just wanted to be sure! Do you know who the convertible expert is on here? Mine was working intermittently and now it won’t do anything at all... ( not using key fob; never even knew that was an option!) this is a new car to me and yes I’m blond! Lol

Hi, have you checked the rear parcel shelf is in its lowest position? The roof won’t function if the shelf has been raised
