New toy anyone? 1/5 off-road racing buggy

Post by groovy_hippy » Fri Jul 03, 2020 3:33 pm

Hi folks,
Trying on here first before it hits eBay this weekend - this is my very little used 1/5 petrol RC off road buggy - it's a Contrast Fuego TT12 - it's a really awesome bit of kit - full aluminium and hydraulic brakes, designed for proper racing and much better engineered than the likes of Team Losi, HPI etc.

http://www.contrast-racing.com/EN/535/M ... 2-2WD-html

Currently retailing at just over €2000 with no engine...
http://www.contrast-racing.com/shop/EN/ ... ngine-html

I bought it with the intention of racing it, but alas, life and other hobbies (including zeds) got the better of me.
It has a Zenoah G270RC 26cc race engine (£200-odd quid's worth), and Hitec metal geared servos (the servos cost near £200...)

Condition - well, it's been sat unused for a year or so now, so anything with oil in has leaked out (shocks, and the hydraulic front brakes). All electrics seem fine although I haven't started it up. These engines are fairly robust though and I'm sure it will run with a bit of good fuel and a re-tune.

I'm after £400 for it, although open to offers....I'm near Derby...and it will fit in a E85 roadster boot :-) More pictures if anyone is interested, but just the two for now (Coca-Cola can is there for scale, although could be included in the sale!!):

Hmmm, I'll scratch my chin about this one for a bit.

I've been itching to get a 2 stroke 1:5 car since I sold all my nitro kit 11 years ago when our first small person arrived - haven't heard of this brand though.

Will Google :)

Tempting. Sold my 1/5 HPI Baja S/S a few years ago. So much fun bashing that around the woods locally. So much noise and speed. Loved it.

I’ve seen an old Astute go with a brushless setup - unfortunately I’ve never seen 1/5 petrol buggy go that quick!

I should add that if anyone is seriously interested - let me know - I’d rather sell it outside of the ebay faff if possible.

It has been used also - I bought I second hand, with a view of racing it. Since I’ve not used it much I’ve yet to discover any of its ‘features and foibles’ !

Sorely tempted. It's just the wrong time unfortunately!

Best of luck getting it sold!

How did you get on selling this? I'm on the cusp of purchasing a 2015 recreation of my childhood favourite:. Monster Beetle

:D

Unfortunately, it suffered a little incident in testing (bent shock tower...)!! I am planning on getting new parts for it - but various 'life/work related things' have come up so have put on hold for a bit!!
The Monster Beetle was always cool - I know Tamiya did some recreations which look quite good!!

OK so it’s all fixed and back up for sale again now!

I’ll be listing it on eBay tomorrow but offers considered...I just don’t have the time for it any more!

I used to race 1/8 scale nitro - great fun but silly expensive if you want to be competitive. So i binned that and took up target rifle shooting - thats even more expensive!

Yes agreed - immense fun but expensive - especially 1/5 scale!!! I've since taken up archery - recurve and longbow - not so pricey but handy when the zombie apocalypse comes

I did archery many years ago. My dad was a county coach for Cheshire as it was back then. He founded Neston Archers and he was a member of Caldy Bowmen for many years. I packed up when i was 18 i think. I still consider taking it up again one day!
