2006 Z4 M Roadster - 69K miles - FSH, warranty - P/X considered
Hey tourette, yeah to come peacefully notice the enthusiasts community that a car was possibly for sale was my only goal (that is why I never listed the car for sale on Autotrader, eBay etc.. but only here). Apparently it's not possible, because in forums people have to be strongly opinionated about things that aren't their interest/business, implying things that don't exist while having no knowledge of the facts. (I do appreciate the advices, of course. But insisting that nobody should consider the car because of the wrap, while I explained all about it and why I won't take it off isn't helping.. it only suggests to people to run away based on completely false assumptions rather than the facts.)
Finally, I haven't lowered the asking price at all. It was 14500£ from the start. I just added that I consider offers, and that I'm interested in P/X with a specific kind of car. Am I allowed to do that? Just let me know, if it doesn't bother too much the majesties here, of course.
PS: I must add that I still really respect the community, I do actually receive a number of messages from members apologizing for the behaviour of a few, and I do really appreciate it.

Mad thread in many ways.. as it just lives at the top of this section now and appears to just be a free for all
I have a genuine question, admitidly not about the sale but as it’s the main context of the thread.
I see you haven’t changed the colour with the DVLA.. don’t you now have to notify the DVLA if you have wrapped a car complelty? And how does it affect your insurance if you do or don’t tell them or the DVLA.
Genuine question as it’s somthing I’m considering doing on a car that’s not worth the cost of respraying or reshelling.

I didn't know about this. I've googled and apparently it's debated if it should be notified or not, some websites way that the DVLA requires it, but then nobody can find the actual reference to this.
While insurance, apparently they need to know so in case you make a claim they can know exactly how much a repair would cost.

Most insurance policies no not cover the costs of mods in the event of a claim unless previously agreed.Mroadster wrote: ↑Fri Jan 26, 2018 4:21 am I didn't know about this. If you haven't told them and make a claim all I can say is good luck.

Yes you do it’s on their website
If it’s a full colour change ., if the base colour Is still visible such a Police vehicles and other company liveries you don’t
See attached from DVLA website
Re the insurance that’s more of a grey area
depends on the insurance company but it’s all in the wording of the policy document... most will say that if the vehicle is no longer as it left the factory then you have to notify them
If that is so and you haven’t notified them of the “modification” then your insurance policy is likely to be invalid ..
Insurance companies don’t normally ask the colour of cars at the quotation stage

Well if nothing else, at least this thread has highlighted a potential insurance issue for the OP and a serious one at that.

Cheers folks,
Hope OP finds the correct answer. I would have thought the wrapping company would give him the correct answer. As you say googling throws a lot of wrapping companies which seem to quote some 2014 Statment form the DVLA. The whole car wraps now constituted a colour change.
I’m only considering a 182 clio with really bad paint. Hence not worth the agro of reshell or value in repaint.
Sounds like it’s just another pita dealing with insurance companies. I remember looking at doing an engine conversation in a 106 that had a rallye bodykit but was originally just a 1 litre.. the Insurance canned that project.
All the best with your sale and apologies for the intrusion.

One of the reasons ( main reason ) that wrapping companies will be vague about the legal requirements (other than ignorance) is that a colour change creates a marker on the vehicle history file which then shows up on all checks such as HPI etcDablk wrote: ↑Fri Jan 26, 2018 11:32 am Cheers folks,

That isn’t an issue for the DVLA or Police obviously
all they require is that if a RED car is being driven down the road it shows on the PNC as a RED car
( it can have major implications in criminal enquiries .. such as murders or fail to stop fatal collisions where certain functions of the PNC can be utilised to trace all RED z4’s For instance .. which wouldn’t find an offending RED z4 if said RED z4 was showing as being SILVER)
Obviously for subsequent owners it creates a potential question mark over the vehicles history and can effect its value

interestedly i've recently come into the wrapping sector myself, ive completed and passed expert level certification programme at significant expense that even the bigger shops dont go through so can comfortably say particularly on this car is such an easy car to wrap, infact a JOY to wrap due to the flat panels without out curves, its almost like the perfect wrapping canvas . OP can you confirm what brand film was used on the wrap??
Now spring is (supposedly) around the corner this will hopefully move for you.
Heres a Bump.

thanks Beedup, wrap is Arlon True blood.
by the way I am leaving the country soon, so I'm eager to sell the car. I'd be happy to consider offers, but not any lower than the 12500£ that a BMW dealer was prepared to pay months ago (and that I'm going to contact again in the next few days).

Let the dealer have it then, a lot less hassle.

Really sad to see but these are at rock bottom now. Not even worth selling at this price for many of us long term owners, in your case, i agree send it to bmw sod all the messing around, if this car was going to sell i think it would have by now and clearly you dont have the time to wait till summer, even worse winter seems to be never ending this year.
