BMW Z4MC Ruby Black

Post by Angelus666 » Wed Sep 01, 2021 2:43 pm

After 7 years of ownership, I have now decided to part ways with my beautiful Ruby Black MC. This has been a brilliant car ownership for me, never ever missed a beat, and has been the single most reliable car I’ve ever owned. :driving: I’ve been an active member on the forum for many years, so you can check through my posts and feel confident you are buying a well-looked after and cared for car.

The key details are:

2007 (57) BMW Z4M 3.2 Coupe

Specification
- Registered October 2007
- Ruby Black Metallic
- 90,100 Miles
- Black Nappa Leather Interior
- Heated & Electric Leather Seats
- Rear Parking Control (PDC)
- Carbon Leather Interior Trim
- Xenon Headlights.
- Bluetooth Phone
- 6 CD changer
- Aux connection

Useful info
I probably won’t remember all the info, but some additional information that you a new owner will find useful:
- Full BMW & M Specialist service history (see below for the detail and the pictures for the invoicing)
- I purchased the car from BMW in 2014 and my ‘friendly’ local service manager at BMW Stansted allowed a fair amount of lovely maintenance work under the warranty (the total bill was about the same that I purchased the car for). In 2015 the car had a new gearbox, clutch, flywheel, differential, headlamps, and stereo head unit. Since then I’ve done 30k miles and it’s been spot on.
- CSL Wheel alignment
- CSL M Traction mode coded (press once on the DSC to engage)
- Front bumper was resprayed in 2020 as it had a few too many stone chips.
- Currently running Eibach spring, however (originals in the garage)
- BMW ZHP Leather Gearknob (original somewhere in the garage)
- Matt Black Grills (original in the garage)
- Number plate facia in the garage
- Leather interior in very good condition (driver's seat bolster was renewed with new foam 2020)
- Wheels repainted in 2020, so have zero marks on them
- New Cupholders (both sides) were purchased last week from BMW
- Having owned the car for 7 years, I have been super mechanically sympathetic with the car, taking the painful 15 minutes under 3krpm until the ridiculously thick oil is up to temperature. In my ownership, the car has never been tracked.

Bodywork / Paint / Wheels / Tyres
- The paintwork is in great condition for the age/mileage of the car with just a few chips around the front. I’m a keen detailer, so have hand washed the car weekly in all weathers to keep it looking its best. The car is currently wearing the Turtle Wax Graphene Ceramic paste wax, it’s lovely stuff and provides some really good gloss. Ruby black is a lovely colour, very black when slightly overcast and beautiful deep red with lots of fleck of colour when the sun hits it. I've added some other pictures I took of the car over the years to show it's been kept in good nick all its life.
- The alloys are in great condition and the tyres are Michelin Pilot SuperSport with the fronts being at 7mm and the rears about 4mm. In very good condition with no repairs or marks to the sidewalls.

Service Information:
• 23/10/2007 – 0 Miles – Pre Delivery Check (BMW - Thorne)
• 07/12/2007 – 1,316 Miles – Running In Service (BMW - Thorne)
• 08/07/2009 – 11,117 Miles – Oil Service + Brake Fluid (BMW - Cooper)
• 25/03/2011 – 23,144 Miles – Inspection 1 Service + Brake Fluid (BMW - Sytner)
• 26/07/2012 – 35,281 Miles – Oil Service (BMW Hexagon)
• 30/10/2013 – 46,288 Miles – Inspection 2 Service + Brake Fluid (Inde DM Worx)
• 12/06/2015 – 56,975 Miles – Oil Service + Brake Fluid (Highams Park BMW *I’ll get book stamped)
• 25/11/2016 – 68,008 Miles – Inspection 2 Service (PMW - Chelmsford)
• 11/05/2018 – 77,390 Miles – Oil Service + Brake Fluid (PMW - Chelmsford)
• 01/10/2019 – 84,314 Miles – Inspection 1 (PMW - Chelmsford)
• 23/04/2021 – 90,022 Miles – Oil Service + Ignition Coils + Spark Plugs (PMW - Chelmsford *I’ll get book stamped)

The next scheduled service is not due for another 14,500 miles. Feel free to give PMW Chelmsford a call to check their view on the car, they are great guys and know this car well. Happy to have any pre-purchase inspection done on the car.

I could bang on for days about how good this car has been and will be a real shame to let it go, but a GT3 is calling and I’m not quite rich enough to run a fleet of cars. I am asking for £18,000. Would love to see the car remain on the forum with a new owner.

Please feel free to PM me (Nathan) with any questions.

I've still got the GTS, it's a lovely car, people absolutely love it, it's wearing it's 7 years well....but I think it's a stop gap into a GT3, so that might have to go as part of the deal. The missus loves it, but her view on the GT3 is "I'm not driving that thing around, it looks like a max power car with a spoiler that looks like a table stuck on the back". A touring might be a good compromise.

Have seen this car in the flesh and can vouch for its condition.

The new buyer will be getting a very well sorted car.

Best of luck with the sale Nathan

I rarely comment about other people's cars but that is a beauty.

That is a marvellous looking car and appears to be well priced. Several members have recommended to be done or have replaced the bearing shells and bolts. I’ve not heard about a bearing failing on this engine in the Z4, but have seen quite worn bearings being replaced anything between 60k and 120k miles. Have you had these replaced or had them inspected at all?

Thanks, I've priced it sensible and being completely honest, it's only very slightly higher than Motorway are willing to pay for it. I'd prefer it to go to a forum enthusiast. I've not done the shells, as my M specialist told me it's a bit unnecessary if you have been taking care to warm the car properly. The shells on this version of the S54 were upgraded, so not the slightly problematic ones that were on the e46. He said to me that he's seen quite a few people replace the OEM ones with inferior aftermarket ones which makes no sense to my mind. I know some other folks have different opinions on this, but I trust these guys implicitly.

I'm fairly lucky in that I've not had to run this car on a budget, so when it goes to PMW it gets done whatever it needs doing.

Just to clarify for any potential buyer:

Does it come with Aero skirts or without Aero skirts?
Are the wheels grey or silver?
Does it have the aftermarket exhaust or the standard exhaust?

Sorry, to clarify. The car is now as per the first set of pics, so without aero skirts, back on the original exhaust and the wheels are silver.

The car is now sold. Ended up going to a trader who paid exactly what I wanted for it. Shame someone from here didn't buy it, was a very well-sorted car and would have given someone years of trouble-free M motoring.

Not exactly sure where it will end up, but always strange selling into the trade. All the stuff we M enthusiasts think is important, the trade really doesn't care about. I could have had it serviced at Kwik Fit and it wouldn't have changed the value of the car one bit. If it would have only had oil services and NO big inspections that would have been the same price. They don't care about the tyre brand or the condition of the paint.

For those who are wanting to sell their M cars, then I'd just avoid the private sale and go straight to the trade right now, they are paying decent money and it avoids all the timewasters.

Shame indeed no one picked it up from here, what a nice example, ah well. Glad you got what you wanted, a sensible ask, not surprised. Your remarks about dealer/trader requirements made me laugh, people love to fixate on stuff round here don't they!
Best of luck with your search for a Gt3, intoxicating cars for sure  We'll all be interested to hear your thoughts /comparisons...

Yep, the advice I would give to anyone selling their car is to take all the modifications off, get it back to as standard as you possibly can and sell these mods on here to realise the most money. I had to explain to the guy about the difference between an oil service and an Inspection 1 or 2...he had no idea what the difference was....and had been in the trade a long time. I guess when you're buying 100's of cars a year they all blend into one.

I'll find some time later this week to write up an end-of-term post about the car now that's it sold, the good and the bad.
