It was bought from a previous member here on the forum, and he also bought it from a forum member. So I know at minimum the last 3 owners including myself are forum members.
The car has a full history mostly through BMW main dealers and a few specialists, including service stamps from the legendary Munich Legends. I have a folder full of previous MOT’s and invoices. I am the 8th owner and the car has 2 keys. It has also had the all important pre-delivery check and running-in service.
In preparation for the road trip, the last thing you would want is the car to break down at the top of a mountain, which is why I sent the car in for major works at Munich Legends bringing the health of the car to tip top condition, they carried out the following work just 10 months ago:
King Racing Bearing Shells and ARP Bolts (see attached pic for old shells, Munich Legends I've timed the replacement of these perfectly and should be good for another 100,000 miles)
Vibratechnics Engine Mounts (gear changes are silky smooth now and very engaging with great feedback)
Replaced Upper Chain Guide as precaution as these are known to fail
Replaced VANOS with new
Inspection II service - I accidently misread the service history and didn't realise the previous service was also an Inspection II just 18 months prior, so it's had 2x Inspection II's in a row.
Valve clearance carried out
Gearbox and LSD oils replaced.
Hack Engineering Viton CPV Seal as precautionary as the original seal is also known to fail.
New rear diffuser/undertray as old one had a crack.
The above cost around £3,000 just 10 months ago. The engine is now fully refreshed for complete peace of mind, it feels strong, new, and pulls like a train, and wouldn't hesitate to take it on a long road trip far away from home.
I have also fitted Eibach lower springs and I believe in using new nuts and bolts so I also purchased all new nuts and bolts and also rubber boots for the front shocks from BMW costing £110 just for a few nuts and bolts, (see receipt attached), the total cost with springs was approx £250
I have also replaced all badges with Black M badges.
In response to the negative points from the previous owners ad. I've not really noticed the small scratch on the mirror, I wouldn't of noticed unless it was pointed out to me. The glove box hinge again you wouldn't know unless it was pointed out, you generally hold onto opening as you lower it anyway so it doesn't just drop suddenly when opened. There is some wear on the drivers seat but it's very early in the wear process and can be recovered with special creams, the slight wear in the door card again is very slight and the previous owner who I bought it off has already had an attempt to fill this. Stone chips are as-is. The window going down after the roof is up has only happened to me maybe 3-4 times in the last 11 months I've had the car and I put the roof down everytime I drive it.The below is now information from the previous advert from May 2020:
• Inspection 2 carried out at Dick Lovett BMW Bristol Nov 18 – all clear
• New rear brake light unit (cracked)
• Replaced boot struts
• Fitted ZHP gearstick
• Fitted Genuine wind deflector
• Replaced M badges (stickers)
• 4 wheel alignment
• Replaced wiper blades with Aero’s
• Replaced LED number plate bulbs
• Fitted interior LED lights (white)
• Updated navigation software
• Fitted Stubby aerial
• Fitted genuine Schnitzer Pedals
• Refurbished and fitted ABS pump (known fault with warning lights)
• Purchased genuine CSL alloys and refurbished
• Fitted 4x Michelin Pilot Sports 4S
• Refurbished the steering wheel button surrounds (peeling)
• Hardwired Bluetooth music streaming
If I was keeping the car there a few remaining bits I would want to finish which were on my list this year.
• Small scratch on n/s wing mirror housing
• Glove box hinge broken (I’ve just put up with for the cost of replacing)
• Couple of marks in the driver’s door card leather and drivers seat bolster
• 3 days after I refurbished all 4 wheels, I clipped one – about 1cm.
• Stone chips on the front bumper as you’d expect
Very occasionally one of the windows drops back down after the roof is put back up - i just put them back up on the button
Bad points from my ownership are that the black has begun to peel off the steering wheel again as experienced by the previous owner, so this will need to be re-applied, and there is some more curbing on the wheels. Tyre are super sticky Michelin Pilot Sports 4S which Munich Legends confirmed 6-7mm last year, have driven 4000-5000 miles since so can't imagine tread to be below 5-6mm, will re-measure when I get a gauge.
MOT does run out next month but will obviously get this renewed for the next owner.
I personally have spent around £4000 on the car and the previous owner has spent around £5000, so almost £10k combined.
The induction noise from the 6 individual throttle bodies and S54 engine note is to die for. It really is a drivers car and drives beautifully, especially with the Eibach lowering springs, CSL wheels, engine mounts and ZHP gear stick, plus all other ///M changes for the Z4M with the added wind in your hair makes it pure heaven.
