PRICE DROP £17,450 with extras, £16,500 without

Post by MichaelPorter80 » Tue Dec 29, 2020 12:33 pm

So, where to start, I am selling my Z4MR... its a sad day, but with 2 small kids and a Labrador, its just not getting used, and the Mrs won't let me keep the new M4 as well... The good news is that someone is going to get their hands on a car that in the last 18 months has had pretty much every piece of preventative maintenance done to it that is possible on this model of car. I will list those things below and people can also look on the forum for more details on the processes and people I have had do the work and the work itself.

It is a VERY high sfactory spec with the carbon leather dash, folding dimming mirrors, heated seats, Professional Nav, (with updated maps) Bluetooth, SubWoofer stereo but not the one with fibre optic internal cabling... (can't remember the terminology)

The headlines of the car;
- Was originally Asking £18,000 with all parts listed below INCLUDED Now looking for less as I haven't driven it regularly and realise I am unlikely to from here on in, new asking price is £17,450 will all "Extra Parts" £16,500 as stock.
- I remain not desperate to sell so won't consider anything which is not inline with the car's market value and condition. If you want to make an offer for the car without the optional parts then please specify which parts and your offer.
- Just short of 65,000 Miles
- 3 owners from new
- All paperwork including the original spec selection tick list, MOTs, service book, invoices etc.
- Passed its MOT (Dec 2020) with no advisories so 9 months left
- Service indicator says it needs an oil service in just under 2,000 miles but I actually had the oil changed when I had the VANOS and Rod Bearings done, but if I were to keep it I would still have the oil done on the interval
- 2 rear tyres are almost new Pirelli P zeros, and I have a Michelin spare which can also go with the car, I had a puncture on a rear tyre miles from home and so changed the back axle and kept the odd tyre.
- Wheels immaculate as have all been refurbished
- Body work in excellent condition (details below)
- Eisenmann Race Exhaust almost new, included ay higher price. The price reflects the fact that the exhaust alone was over £1,230 last year not including fitting costs.
- New Battery in 2020.

Details
I bought the car in May 2019, it had 2 owners before me and around 54k miles on the clock, all the paperwork was there right back to the original spec sheet where the options were ticked and the car was ordered. When I bought it it was loved but had some cosmetic and other issues I wanted to resolve. I planned to keep the car for the long term and so all the spending was done for my own sake not as an investment. I knew I wasn't going to get my money back, but I didn't think this day would come so soon. If I can't get the right value for the car I will keep it as it really is a future modern classic and in great condition.

Here is the detailed list of the the things I have done to the car, all work has been carried our by professionals (not me) with the exception of changing the headlight bulbs and fitting of the GROM BT3;

Engine & Maintenance
- On purchase (June 2019) I had the Inspection 2 at Iridium in Hampshire (recommended) car “very clean” all shims good, seems a fine example! For 54,000 miles 06 plate.
- Also had all 6 ignition coils replaced after a small misfire

Everything M3 (Darragh) then did this work for me in August 2019;
- S54 conrod refresh:
- ARP bolts
- King race bearings
- Oil pump inspection
- Sump gasket
- Castrol 10w-60 oil service
- S54 comprehensive Vanos overhaul:
- Beisan systems seals kits
- Beisan systems anti-rattle kit
- Beisan systems rebuilt solenoid coil pack
- Vanos micro filter
- S63 hub springs
- Timing chain tensioner guide rail
- updated cam bolts
- Vanos cam timing set to optimum setting
- Engine Mounts
- CPValve replacement
See this post for more details - viewtopic.php?p=1681361#p1681361

Cosmetic and small Parts
- New Bonnet Badge
- Full wheel refurb
- New tyres (rears since replaced see above but spare Michelin included)
- Deep wash, (took 3 hours) including door jam and engine bay degrease and re-dress
- Leather clean with the Furniture Clinic cleaning kit and dress & condition with colour match leather cream
- Roof clean and prep with 303 convertible top care kit
- Installed GROM BT3 after disconnecting CD Changer (could have happily killed someone at this point) all original connectors in place, if you want to undo this.
- Ran USB socket and charging cable through behind ash tray trim (very neat)
- Brodit Pro clip & Mount
- Front bumper, driver door full re-spray
- Major paint correction detail plus machine polish and 2 stage ceramic coating... unbelievable difference.
- New Xenon OSRAM XENARC NIGHT BREAKER bulbs
- New windscreen seals all round fitted by main dealer
- New windscreen plastic trim fitted by main dealer after they split it doing the windscreen
- New Windscreen Wipers
- x2 new brake ducts in front bumper
- All black grills, Originals included
- Door Seal membrane passenger side, just had this done at the main dealer to ensure it was correct due to water ingress into the footwell.
- New OE M Badges

Options Parts Included at price of £17,450, Excluded for price of £16,500
- Convertible roof "gap covers" bought used but as new for £250 late in 2019
- Eisenmann Race Exhaust Back Boxes almost new, bought direct in October 2019 for £1,270 invoice can be provided if needed.
- Spare Michelin OEM recommended tyre off wheel worth around £250 new and has less than 6,000 miles on it.

So all in all, I think this could be the best Z4MR for sale in the UK right now. I have spent well over £6,000 on the car since I bought including over £2,000 on the engine... the paint work and paint correction cost me close to another £2,000 and then bits and bobs on the external parts, badges, wheels, exhaust, tyres etc... I am really keen to sell this to a forum member as I want to know it is loved as much as I love the car now which is why the price for the car without extras is not going on Autotrader.

Sorry to see you are having to sell your MR Michael having got it into such good condition. :(

Thanks Mr Tidy, it’s a shame really I’m still working on the Mrs, but if I get the right offer she’ll go. I’ll still be around the forum and the odd meet up I expect.

Good luck working on the Mrs then. Either way maybe see you at the Black Swan when it finally reopens.

It has pretty much everything;
- Red leather
- Carbon leather dash
- Folding mirrors
- Professional Nav
- Heated seats
- 6 CD Changer (currently replaced with GROM BT3 but still in place)
- 10 speaker system but not the one with Fibre Optics

I can’t remember every feature but if anyone has a question on a specific I can confirm. I can also provide more detailed internal pictures as needed.

Thanks

On the stereo I think you mean it doesn’t have DSP. Fibre optic was stopped sometime before facelifts were introduced.
