35iS 2010 - 42,000 Miles - Great Spec

Post by Meady » Thu Aug 06, 2020 4:12 pm

Hi Everyone

Unfortunately the time has not come to sell my beloved 35is. :?

The car was purchased from a Forum Member on here (NeilMick) and i believe before was also owned by two other members (Gadgetjunky & Pk199) beforehand- Please correct me if i am wrong. It would be nice for it to move on to another Z4 Forum Member if possible.

The car has full BMW Service History and has had the full BMW warranty since the car was bought new. The warranty is due to expire at the end of this month but is renewable and can be transferred to a new owner. In my two years ownership it has been professionally detailed twice as well so the paintwork is in pretty good condition but obviously has some stone chips on the bonnet / bumper that you would expect from a 2010 car.

I spent a long time searching for the right E89 as i wanted it fully loaded. As far as i am aware the car has pretty much every single optional extra other than Adaptive Headlights

I am based in Brighton.

I'd love to buy that car back, but I've just bought a Supra. time to do some "man maths".

Hey, I didn’t purchase it new but as I mentioned I believe it has all optional extras apart from adaptive headlights.

I believe there is a way to check the options via the VIN number but I can’t seem to find a website that works. If any one can tell me how I’ll happily post the photos of the options.

Alternatively I can PM you the VIN if you know how to do this yourself

Car has now been sold. Thanks for the enquiries.

Now to find something much cheaper... Probably a E92 3 series for a while.... I will be back in a Z4 at some point though!

You sure will be. i sold that car because I bought an F430 and still missed it. even when considering the Supra I kept on looking at late plate 35iSs as an alternative. even now that i have the Supra i keep on thinking about getting an E85 as a project car (i should have bought Mr Tourette's).

I don't think there's any other roadster sports car that offers the same value for money as an E85 or E89. of course there are better cars out there, but for a LOT more.

Congrats on the sale btw. the new owner has got the best specced E89 that i was able to find.

I didn't want to crash the OPs For Sale thread, but now it's sold i can respond.

I was a bit underwhelmed by the Supra considering it cost £55k. The dealer experience didn't help. They aren't geared up to sell a premium cars and their techs aren't ready to work on what is pretty much a BMW.

I went for the Supra as i saw it as a different take on the Z4 coupe. I really wanted to like the new Z4, but just couldn't get used to the styling. I was a big fan of the metal roof on the E89 and wasn't keen to go back to a cloth one.

Now that I've spent more time with the Supra and sorted out some niggles i'm warming to it a lot more. It drives so well. So much grip. Nice exhaust note from the standard exhaust/artificial noise pumped into the cabin. It's plenty fast enough and the ZF gearbox shifts really quickly even though it's not a dual clutch.

What i'm really disappointed in is the lack of premium feel in the cabin. The new Z4 interior is much nicer, but it's a more expensive car. The interior of the 2010 Z4 being sold here is also nicer. It's just the tech that isn't a match for a 2020 car. The upgraded JBL stereo is an absolute joke.

I've recommended to everyone that's asked not to buy a Supra new. It will be a much better proposition in a year or 2 when it costs £35-40k used.

It didn’t take me too long to be back in a Zed as I bought LordOxygen’s Maldives Blue 3.0 E85 that he has for sale here yesterday!

Obviously doesn’t come close to the 35is but it’s very well looked after and feel like i am driving a classic of sorts (guess it is at 17 years old!)

Hi Guys

Quick question on this car.

Unfortunately when I sold the car I didn’t have the service book with me, and after searching my flat for about two days i cannot find it anywhere. It’s possible it has gone missing when I moved home.

I know some of the newer BMW’s keep the service history on the key. Which is making me wonder whether I actually had a service book at all?! - Neil I’m hoping you might be able to help advise if you gave me one with the car? Either that or I’m going a bit mad.

If it has gone missing, is there anyway to get this service history back? I’d like to be able to help the new owner locate it for his future resale, etc

Many Thanks
