Since my ownership I have serviced every year using genuine parts and best consumables eg Mobil 1 oil, there are no shortcuts and been quite OCD about the car. I use the diagnostic s/w to scan for any codes and general health, eg to fix the radiator fan not activating due to a corroded wire. I service myself ( been doing this for ~25 yrs on a long list of cars ) and follow the oil/insp1/insp2 schedule as defined in the service book, in fact I do much more.

Black interior is in great condition and bolster wear is minimal - I treat the leather every year. Plenty of tread on all tyres. I can find no scratches or dents to mention at all, there are a few chips on the bonnet if you look closely.

Car has been very cared for and only used in fair weather as a third car and 95% of its miles have been my ~30 mile commute on A31/M27 with a good deal of diverts through the New Forest on the long way round home. Always garaged overnight. Hence minimal miles per year as run from Apr-Sept and trickle charged over the winter when is it serviced regardless of mileage added. Hence my mileage addition over 3 yrs ,and obviously affected by recent months, has been ~6K

I spent 3 years looking for this car, went through a search from my shortlist of VX220, Elise mk1, Boxster & Honda RS2000, even some Z4 3.0i and drove many. many cars, this was by far the best for me and a would say a concurs example in quite a rare colour. The straight six drives so smooth alongside the MSport package which gives it a lower stance and with a great interior with the hugging seats and great steering wheel. Being the 2.5i, insurance is cheap ( ~£180 for me, in my 40's ) and returns ~34 MPG with a sub 7 sec performance to 60.

I've had 3 great years of summer driving, its a feel good car and ready to drive out with a happy new owner, it never missed a beat for me ( although I do preemptive maintenance ) and feels like it will stay that way as being BMW, its very solid and purposively built.

Unfortunately the service book was lost when I purchased, however before GDPR in 2018, i was able to contact BMW central and they gave me all the service details and garages used on record which I have used to re-build the dealer history into a new replacement service book. I have the emails. Last serviced Nov 2019, and since then, about 150 miles due to WFH orders. MOT runs to Oct 20 ( I can add a new one if required )

Reason for selling is due to my boy is now 17 and requiring a car, which means I need the space in the garage/drive, however looking for someone who will appreciate and look after it, so will hold out for a respectable price

I do think this could be a collectable, appreciating model with only ~400 ( +50 SORN ) left according to howmanyleft.co.uk. Its been a very affordable and reliable drive for me at such a great price with a low maintenance tag and hope someone can enjoy this also.

Any questions feel free to ask. I've based my price on looking at similar sold over the months and condition of my car, but will see how it goes. Will move to more convention sites soon, but trying here first for a more informed punter :)

Lovely car & i don't think you will struggle with your ask on Ebay right now but forum buyers may well look to the Si 2.5 being more desirable & tbf it is but more mainstream buyers are not always as savvy when looking for a weekend summer toy
Jmo but thin out the written text & take some fresh pics at a remote location for your best chance at a swift sale

Hi Charlie

Do you know the power difference between this and the 2.5Si? I had set my sites on finding at least an Si but maybe that was foolish? Yours does look a good example.

Cheers

The pre-facelift 2.5 was 190bhp. In the facelift versions, the 2.5i is 177bhp and the 2.5Si is 218bhp.

Yes, I think the Si is ~0.5 sec faster to 60 and has the sport button ( which I guess you would have permanently engaged ? ) , dual DISA.

I found the MSport package was the big draw for me on this 2.5i, the seats, ride and chunky steering wheel really grasped my driving experience after driving few as well as the condition of this car. Its a great cruiser on the mway with top down and low noise .. and of course cheaper to insure

By advice, as I think others will always say, is drive and see a few to compare, as I said above, it took me 3 yrs to find this one and as soon as a I started to drive it, in addition to its looks, it grabbed me .... tightly :driving:

Yours certainly looks a fine example. I test drove an Si last week and have another planned for Tuesday. I did look and getting to you by train looks a nightmare for me! I may be in touch, but in the meantime, good luck with the sale.

2 great outcomes - 1 - went to a friendly forum member, 2 - staying local ( well same county for prob most of its life)

3 great yrs of Z4 summer driving and a great, informative forum - I loved this car ( I think the MSport options make a great Z4 ) and thought it had bags of character and was able to put a personal stamp on it.
