How do you find the Eibach lowering springs with the 18" wheels? Any difference to the ride quality? What's the dream car you are going for? GLWTS!

I first went to Eibach's first with the OEM 19" and runflats and I'd say no noticeable difference in the ride quality, of course handling\feel was improved. The biggest difference\improvement was achieved by fitting the much lighter 18" wheels and of course non runflats. From memory I saved 3kg per corner.

Nice replacement, looks like a nice sunny day to enjoy the new purchase. Spent quite a few very happy years in Aberdeen before emigrating to NZ. My best friends in the world still live in Aberdeen.
GLWTS, looks a well kept Z.

Bump.....

Although do wonder if the F-type has long term stay potential, quite a few niggles, build quality isn't a patch on BMW, but huge smiles per miles....

What sort of niggles and how is the build quality not as good? Love the look of these cars, but there's something about them that puts me of.. I guess its the lack of german engineering? They look and sound absolutely incredible though!

There's nothing major and looking forward to sorting them all out over time.... I have to remember it is almost a 7 year old car, but the Z4 feels as solid as I suspect it did when it left the factory...
  • Headlining on soft-top above drivers head rattles\creaks like hell, you can see the previous owner has stuffed a cloth in the there to try to quieten it down, unsuccessfully
  • There's a creaking coming from the front wheels when turning at slow speed (now sorted, was loose arch liner)
  • Exhaust valves make a horrible noise when the car starts up for about 20 seconds, I've read up on this and will lubricate them (sorted for now)
  • Drivers door speaker rattles and vibrates as soon as there's some bass. The Jaguar fix is for the subwoofers I think, not the door speakers
  • Engine stop\start button worn (replaced)
  • You just about about have to break your thumb to engage cruise control, the steering wheel control buttons really don't work
  • Rear camera picture is shocking, even after cleaning it you can hardly see anything, like reversing into a bank of fog
  • Heated seats take an age to warm up and never get truly hot, perhaps just the way it is

Strange about the camera. The one on my XF is very good, as long as it's clean. I wonder if internal condensation is possible on them?

My XF seats take an age to warm up too, but they do get fairly hot. Too hot on max in fact. They are also cooled so use, I believe, a Peltier effect element and blow the heated or cooled air around the seat base and back. If yours has this I've read the air ducts can come adrift over time and the hot/cold air doesn't get to where it's meant to.

Coming from a 2003 Lexus LS I was pretty disappointed with the build quality of the XF, though it remains the best looking cabin I've ever sat in. Overall though the car goes, steers, and rides very well (even on 20s) so I mostly forgive it.
