After a long day I can HIGHLY recommend the 30i. A completely different beast to the e85. Great fun!

Looks nice, bit leggy on mileage, but priced accordingly.
Have contacted them, but comes down to if they will offer a sensible px on mine at present until mine sells.
We shall see.

yes mate, think I would rather be patient than give it to them at silly money.

What’s your thoughts on the higher mileage John
Better to have newer car on higher mileage or older car on lower?

The miles wouldn’t put me off from a mechanical point of view, far from it in fact, no reason these won’t see 500k if the oils changed on time. I guess it comes down to how long you want to keep it, if it’s not a keeper then true it’s getting a bit leggy as there seems to be, wrongly imho, a mental barrier at 100k miles for buyers. You also have to factor in the spec, this one has a good spec for the coin which will help it move on when the time comes. If you want a lower mile car I do think you’ll struggle to match this ones spec, but then it’ll have lower miles. It’s a toss up tbh, for me I’d take a better spec car with a few more miles. If you went for this one you’d have some change to put by for servicing, tyres etc without having to stump that up when needed. Mr Wilkes sold his 23i @ roughly 130k miles I think it was some time ago, they will sell, you just need the right buyer that understands the mechanicals. If you’re keeping the car for a few years I really would go and see this one, enjoy it and don’t worry about it.

Best of luck, let us know how you get on if you will please.

Thanks John,
Have spoken to the dealer,am waiting for some details to be confirmed
Wanted to know when last service was done and what was due when
Asked about whether the water pump had been changed
Is a water pump likely to have lasted that long if he can’t confirm
Will put new 12 months mot on it.
Anything obvious I should ask?

The water pumps were an issue on the E85 cars at times but tbh I don’t know if they’ve been updated on the E89, I suspect they have as I haven’t heard of any problems. Just ask about the alloys for cracks, any roof problems, other than that they’re a pretty robust car with a very very good engine. If everything checks out I really can’t see why it shouldn’t give years of good open top motoring.

Well after a bit of detective work this I looking promising.
Seems the history all stacks up.
Dick Lovett were very helpful with confirmation of the service history as well as informing me it was sold from new with a service pack, and has been regularly maintained on the condition based servicing.
It was also taken to them prior to sale, for a full health check, which it passed with no advisories.
So will likely place a deposit on Monday, and they will put a full 12 months mot on it and do the rear brake pads which they said are due.
The px was not perfect, but for the sake of a few hundred, it was not worth the hassle.
So hopefully all will go smoothly.
