NO LONGER WANTED E89
E89
Hi all,
About to put my E85 up for sale as the draw of the E89 has proven too strong with this one. My hunt for the right car has begun and I'm calling on the good people of this forum to come up with the goods
Must haves
£10k
Msport body
Decent history
My wish list. Obviously not all of this, but some of it would be nice
Sub 70,000ish miles
Some extras (nav, mfsw etc)
An interesting colour interior. Champagne or red would be nice for a change from the black
Warranty a bonus
Xenons
In no desperate rush so will wait for the right car to come along, but keen to hear what people have up for sale, or maybe coming up in the near future.
Thanks,
Greg

E89 23i/28i
Hi Greg,
So the pull of an E89 proved irresistible!
I noticed you say 23i/28i (4pot turbo) but IIRC the 23i isn't a 4 pot turbo. I'm pretty sure the 23is all had the 2.5 litre N52 6 pot like the facelift E85 2.5Si.
The 4 pot turbos were the 18i, 20i and 28i so you might want to change your thread title if you don't want an N/A 6 pot!
Happy hunting.

E89 28i
No problem.
I'm sure the 18i, 20i and 28i all have basically the same engine, just with different mapping.
smartbear on here has had his 20i mapped to 28i level, so a 20i may be worth considering.

I cant help but keep thinking I'm stupid ruling out the L6 engines.
I don't rush to buy a car, but I can't stop coming back to this : viewtopic.php?f=41&t=109178
Something tells me I won't find a better car for the money any time soon!

Jmo but well kept, well specced & keenly priced cars are hard come by.
You could hunt for 3 months to save £500/£1000 & still not tick all boxes.
A 30i longterm offers a relatively risk free ownership compared with the twin turbos. The warranty wouldn't be necessary for me.

I think for 10k you are being a bit optimistic with what you are asking for, as mentioned a 28i would be out, certainly one with nav, idrive, msport etc. as smartbear has said you can get a 20i and remap it, as they are a lot more common and more reasonable, btw all E89`s came with xenon headlights
Z4 Mineral Grey, 28i MSport Auto, lots of goodies
Z4 E85 3.0, gone but now with son

I think its mostly down to personal preference, I love my 3l and wouldn't change it.. (except perhaps if the right 35i/s came along) I would say keep an open mind to the 6's - have you tried driving some of the different engine models?greg81 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 25, 2018 12:56 pm I cant help but keep thinking I'm stupid ruling out the L6 engines.

IMO the car you've linked looks a good one and i'd be tempted if I didn't have pretty much the same spec but in silver...
Silver E89 Sdrive30I Msport. Black roof and other bits.
