Welcome - if you see any on Autotrader, Pistonheads or eBay, feel free to share & am sure many on here will comment on things they see.
Other things to advise are
- your rough location
- how far you’re willing to travel
I’d also suggest you don’t rule out other engine sizes up to 3.0, as typically the running costs inc insurance aren’t that far apart...
Good hunting...

Hi and welcome.
Any particular reason for the 2.0i. Most would agree they seem to be the engine that suffers the biggest issues with EML lights due to cracked manifolds and other related issues.

In addition to srhutch’s suggestion, there’s a meet in the Big Smoke near you this Saturday, am sure plenty there could offer advice on things to look for ... including how to empty your wallet faster than a rat out of an aqueduct in a rain storm.

They also make a 2.2 six cylinder as well, although there’s not many of those around to look at. Most of the sixes seem to have virtually identical running costs (apart from the 3.2 M cars, but they’re a different kettle of fish)

As with most of my posts I am writing in glorious ignorance of the actual differences between the 4 pot and the 6 pot engines. My Zed is my second BMW - the other being a (6 pot) 328i Coupe. I remember thinking that I'd never be able to afford to insure and maintain the 328ci, yet it was one of the less expensive cars I've had.
I did once have a 1.9 litre Z3 as a courtesy car - that was gutless.
Actually, speaking from a sample of one, the Z4M hasn't cost a lot to run and now that I'm an old bugger with a clean licence the insurance is only around £220 per year. But the Z4Ms, as previously posted, do take you into another place performance wise.
The BMW 6 pots are great engines and with sensible maintenance they seem to go on forever.

I have never driven the 2.0, so have no experience of them, only what others say on here regarding them (beware they are biased on the 6 pots), but there is certainly a bigger gene pool of 2.5`s than the 2.0, so you should for the money pick up quite a nice one and have a much bigger choice, if you see one you like, post a link on here, and im sure you will get some good advice

Not quite what you’re after but it’d put money in your pocket to get it tip top

Hi and welcome OP.
But it may well be worth the trip.
Good luck with your search anyway Kim.
That's just what I was thinking - although Cumbria is quite a trek from Aylesbury!Jembo wrote: ↑Thu Sep 20, 2018 8:17 pm Looked at this yet?

Hi , I have a 3.0si in great condition. Not a million miles from you and would let it go for around your budget. I spent a grand on it a few months back to resolve any remedial issues, the car only has 38k on the clock, runs like a dream. Regards Chris
