E86 Z4 Coupe 3.0si 2006 - Black - 38k miles
Hi All,
I've had a sudden change in circumstances and have to sell my Z4 after only a month of ownership.
I purchased the car from SCC in Leeds (who were great to deal with) and still under their 3 month warranty.
I'm the cars second owner and it's only done 38k miles
Spec:
It's black with red leather sports seats
BMW Hifi loudspeaker (10 speaker system)
fully electric headed seats
factory privacy glass on rear windows
Good service history (14000miles to next service)
plenty of miles left on discs and pads
all black grill (have grey original though)
mint condition 108 18" alloys
electric mirrors
bi-xenon headlights
Cruise control
multi functional steering wheel
Done by the previous owner:
Replace all rear bushes
Replace front wishbones
Replaced coil pack
Car runs beautifully has 2 keys and wants for nothing, just can't keep it sadly.
I'm just looking to cover what I paid for it which was £12,000
I'm based in Ipswich Suffolk

Shame it has to go & good luck with your sale but with all respect you will be lucky to sell a car privately for the price paid so recently at a dealer a relatively high end indy dealer too , certainly not the cheapest but SCC do supply choice motors

Didn't SCC MOT the car before you bought it? The current MOT only has 8 weeks to run. They sold a car with only 3 months MOT?
Is there documentation and a full service history to back up the very low mileage? The MOT history checker shows the car didn't sit it's first MOT until 2010 and then not another one until 2015.
I take it those Bridgestones are still runflats?
Any pictures of wear to the seats and seat bolsters?
What dings and dents are on the car?

OP,
Why is there a 5 year gap of no MOT?
Is there a service book to prove warranted mileage.

I notice you were looking for a wheel arch lining last week?
Is there an issue to address?

Seller's Back!
Apologies all for the delay,
There has been a change in what's going on and the car is now no longer for sale by myself instead being returned to the garage I purchased it from (a number of factors were involved but the car is certainly not a lemon just incase anyone was worried).
To answer your questions though,
The gap in tax and MOT is because the original owner used the car for a few years but then garaged it (took a punt it would increase in vale), it was just run every now and then to keep the mechanics moving. The service book shows it was maintained and looked after when required (including recent receipts for rear bushes for example).
I was indeed looking for an arch lining but the garage (before us discussing returning the car) agreed to replace this.
Through it all I can't fault the garage, from me reserving the car, them sending me photos of the service book and receipts for all work completed, it just wasn't meant to be for me this time.
The next owner will not be disappointed!
Hope this answers any questions and be useful should the future owner find their way to the forum (I previously had my E85 for 5 years and found the forum a great help on many occasions).
Thanks All

Glad you've got sorted, but I'm intrigued now.
I take it the car is going back under rejection? Although not a lemon, what was bad enough for them to accept it back?
Storing a car for 5 years to preserve value, but still did 10,000 miles and it didn't go near an MOT station doesn't make sense. The car would still need serviced to retain value.
Again glad you've got sorted, but more worms are coming out on the can about this car.

Makes perfect sense to me. New MOT in 2010 so driven for 10k over the course of the next year till MOT required in 2011. Rather than MOT the car it went into storage for 4 years (not 5) and then the owner decided to recommission it in 2015.

AJ1 did say the owner used the car to keep the mechanics moving. The car was being used in that 5 year window.
The car was also late by 6 months for its first MOT. It did 15,000 miles in 3.5 years.
In my opinion if you want something to become a low mileage appreciating top value classic you need to retain traceability. The car still needs to be serviced and MOT tested. Holes in the history, and what now looks to be a rejection, doesn't read so good.

Another problem, is that once that car no longer becomes a low mileage vehicle(ie when’s it’s done 60,000 odd miles), it will be like most other Z4s, but with a patchy MOT history - making it harder to sell.

I think SCC have been reading this thread and are trying to justify the car. They didn't run into that detail last time.
Dry stored from 2009 to 2011 still doesn't cover the gap until 2015.

Sold for £12k last time and asking £12,800 this time.
