2006 BMW Z4M (Imola Red w/ Extended Leather)

Post by edg3 » Sun May 20, 2018 4:11 pm

The time has come to sell my BMW Z4M which is in Imola Red with an extended black leather interior, has covered just 64k miles, and has a full year’s MOT expiring 1 June 2019. Located just outside of Chester.

I purchased the vehicle in June 2016 and after 2 years of ownership I fancy a change after using it for a couple of European trips (inc. one to Croatia to visit friends; why fly when you can drive!) and weekends away etc.

It was first registered on 21 August 2006 and the – all important – running in service was carried out on 9 September 2006 at 1,262 miles. The service history is as follows:

  • 9 September 2006
    1,262 miles
  • 8 July 2008
    10,818 miles
  • 14 September 2009
    22,892 miles (Inspection I)
  • 31 August 2011
    35,086 miles
  • 19 June 2014
    48,255 miles (Inspection II)
  • 13 June 2016
52,410 miles (Precautionary valve clearance check after purchase)
  • 14 August 2016
    52,730 miles
  • 8 February 2017
    60,899 miles

Next service is due in 11,000 miles and will be an 'Inspection I'.

To explain the services after purchasing the car, I took it to my local independent BMW specialist (SJR Automotive) for a precautionary look over and valve clearance check as you can’t be too careful with these. The valve clearances were all within tolerances however they found the differential input shaft was sweating oil so I had them replace the seal (at a cost of £582.92 including the valve clearance check).

I then took it over to Darren Wood Ltd. of Stockport for him to replace the brake fluid and give it a second check on 21 June 2016 where no comments were made.

Now specification wise it has everything you’d expect of the M roadster with a few extras including:

  • Bluetooth for phone calls
  • Satellite navigation (upgraded to the 2016 discs)
  • 6-disc CD changer
  • Freeview television module
  • 10-speaker audio system, with DSP options
  • Aux input (fitted myself using the tried and tested cable from Fruity Car Cables; I located it in the OEM position (above the passenger heated seat button, hidden from view unless something is plugged in))
  • Rear parking sensors
  • Electric folder exterior mirrors (this is a rare option)
  • Heated seats
  • Extended leather (another rare option)
  • Wind deflector
  • Drivers side drinks holder (I purchased this after I’d bought the car)

There have been 4 previous owners plus me, and the owner before me had it for roughly 3 years.

The tyres are Michelin Super Sports with good tread all round (purchased 03 August 2016 for £614.35), and the front brake discs and pads (ATE) plus wear sensor were replaced at a cost of £408.39 on 13 July 2017.

As an aside when I purchased the vehicle I took out 12-months warranty cover and this was used just the once to replace the roof motor (a common fault on these models). This was carried out on 14 November 2016 by Darren Wood Ltd. using original parts supplied by BMW at a reimbursed cost of £970.45. Coming close to the expiry of the warranty I took it back to Darren Wood Ltd. for a general check over to see if anything was needed (so that I could use the warranty!) however they found nothing and there hasn’t been any other issues.

I have both keys (original) and various receipts/paperwork/MOTs that the new owner is welcome to have.

Downsides to the car are that the wheels could do with a refurb as they are flaking with age and the front drivers side has minor kerbing. The rear bumper has also taken a knock at some point (before my ownership!) and has a slight crack; I was going to get this repaired/resprayed after purchasing the car but in the end it never bothered me enough as it’s aesthetically minor.

I would like £15.5k and I will get some recent photos (including the negative points) up this week but until then any questions let me know.

Current mileage (taken 24 May 2018) - ignore the idle speed, cold engine just switched on to show no fault lights

Menu with television, GPS navigation, bluetooth for telephone, and DSP option - ignore the terrible lighting on this shot

One more addition, I purchased Carly (full version) when I first got the car and enabled auto-locking of the doors (think it's above 10mph at present), remote roof up and down using the key, and comfort (3-flash) indicators as they weren't enabled and I missed it from other cars. Sure I did a few other things as well, but if there's anything the new owner would like I'm happy to do it for them.

I also have the original grilles with the chrome outers as seen in the very first photo at the top of the page. It currently has matte black grilles on as I fancied a simple change of look :)

I'll get a photo up later this evening to explain it; I know I should have before posting as it's fair that it'd get the most attention/questions

Here you go, it's hard to show in photos given the shine but it's the top right side of the numberplate recess

Does this help?

Photos taken on my lunch today are here https://imgur.com/a/tRcYxHc

These should show the condition of the wheels and lots more of the rear bumper to try and show it as best I can!

Any questions let me know :)
