It's a std model with low miles and a fsh.No doubt a good car and the garage price should be asking no more than 6K.

Plus: Low mileage

Minus: Asking far too much.

Yes, it looks like a good example but despite that it's still too dear - that's facelift money IMO.

Thoughts on this?

Cheers!

Welcome to the forum,
Are you the dealer ?
Are you struggling to move it on at that price ?

Very nice car but basic SE spec non heated standard SE seats, no cruise control, no cup holders etc etc.
Low mikes and the base to make a very nice car, as above far too much money.

Hey thanks for the welcome!

Been a viewer for many years but thought I'd post this one for advice. I'm not the dealer but in fact the seller (just posted as if I was looking to make sure I get honest feedback, I thought if people knew it was mine they might hold back a bit :) ).

I'm abroad at the moment and have been for a while which is why I eventually decided to sell, it's a fantastic car but I never drive it so really makes no sense to keep it. Put it on with a local dealer who claimed there weren't many 3.0's out there which I guess influenced him on the price, trusted his judgement even if my view is similar to the posts above ..then again who knows how much his sales patter might talk it up, plus it's spring, top down time! :driving:

Thanks for the feedback guys, here's hoping the low mileage make it a rare opportunity for someone looking to take up the many modding options but my guess i'll be dropping the price at some point soon in line with the market. Anyone in the forum interested feel free to PM me with an offer and I'll keep it in mind once the price drops, would be nice to keep it in the community. Cheers.

You're (He's) about 2k high. Bring it back from the dealer and advertise it at £6k.

I see little or no added value in buying a car like this from a dealer and his commission likely outweighs any difference in asking price. Warranties are usually short and in the majority of cases won't fix common issues.

You could also write your own advert, which would give you a chance to provide more info.

ETA. Modding it would erode the perceived premium in value, as indeed would using it. Your dealer is pitching this as a collector's item. If someone wants a base for mods they'd buy a car that maybe needs some work and offers value, not a garage queen.

haha garage queen, nice description - interesting point, I always thought if someone was going to invest in modding then they would want a low mileage/low wear and tear starting point.

The main advantage of the dealer listing (aside from the convenience of him doing the sale) is that he offers a warranty, I figured this would put at bay any concerns related to the age, but then again, I haven't checked exactly how much that covers.. could well be worthless.

I'll give it a little longer then have a chat with him, important is to try and take advantage of the spring/early summer selling window.

Will let you guys know how it goes, maybe I end up keeping it (secretly my preferred option, still love it :driving: )

Have a good BH weekend drive in your Zeds all!

Jesus, "down" to £8k. It was £8k when I looked, so it was £8.5k? Ouch.

I paid £9.5k for mine in 2009.

The price is high, I'd be surprised if anyone would buy it.

I'd have a nice one for £3,000 then spend £5,000 getting it perfect.

Engine rebuild, re-upholster interior, respray etc. Then everything would be in perfect condition for another 10 years of motoring, rather than a 14 year old car ready to start showing all the common issues any way.

Hmmmm

Yeah, I've done this in the past. A dealer will sell the car on your behalf to Offer the usual dealer facilities such as warranty and part ex, and add commission on top for themselves
