SOLD: 2004 Z4 3.0i Titanium Silver, Red M-Sport seats, 107s, £3,000

Post by Mr Whippy » Mon Apr 02, 2018 9:37 pm

Long story short, I've got a deposit down on a Golf V R32 and ideally I'd like to sell the Z4 before I pick it up in around a weeks time.

After much thought on the matter ( viewtopic.php?f=2&t=102956 ) I've decided to sell my Z4. I can't bring myself to long term store it because I just don't have the means to do it properly, and the car should be enjoyed and driven rather than sit around unused.

The proceeds from the sale will be going to two charities.

My wife and I lost our five day old son three years ago. The Harrogate District Hospital SCBU where he spent his five days with us did such an amazing job that we would like to give half of the money to help the Harrogate SCBU team support other families who end up needing them.

And my Dad passed away just before Christmas after a very late diagnosis with cancer. Despite us supporting him at home, he did eventually move to a Sue Ryder hospice where he stayed for a short time. The second half of the money will be given to Sue Ryder at Headingley

I'm not sure if this is important to buyers, but it's important that you know my motivation for selling isn't about the money at all. I just want the car to go to a caring home and a buyer who really wants it, and the money to go and do something valuable for others!

2017:
  • New front springs, bought from Suplex direct OE spec (invoice to find, ordered on phone and I fear I just got a box, again, but I did buy them, fitted with below items. Can dig out proof from somewhere if a buyer is adamant, but the car rides the right height and I've invoices for fitting them!)
  • Front Bilstein B4 dampers (Z4VLB4 22-164568/575) from Demon Tweeks, £196 + fitting.
  • New Bosch S5 096 battery (summer 2017 from ECP), £116. DIY.

  • Gearbox drain plug from BMW Harrogate Stratstone, £12 + fitting.
  • Passenger window actuator (full kit, local trusted garage fitted it, I perfected the alignment), ordered from the chaps at Lincoln BMW, £150 ish (invoice to find) + fitting.
  • New front lower control arms, MEYLE HD C813 from eBay seller tierod69, £195 + fitting.
2015:
  • Rear brake discs, £137 inc fitting (includes labour for a broken rear spring, all part of issues in poor/weird handbrake performance diagnostic)
  • New rear spring, one had snapped (again! last one in 2012), but I like OE, so bought matching Suplex (invoice to find, ordered on phone and I fear I just got a box?!)
2014:
  • Rear discs/pads, for MOT, £75 inc fitting.
2013:
  • BMW Oil service, Sandal BMW Wakefield on 20 Dec 2013 @ 110,325 miles.
  • New engine aux belts from BMW, £51.34 + fitting.
  • Brake fluid and new made up rear brake pipes (from underfloor to caliper flexi) for MOT, £164 (includes fitting belts above)
  • Intake boot/pipe (one between MAF and manifold proper, had split a tiny bit, spotted while I was doing starter motor), £24.
  • Starter motor, exchange item from GSF, have return part of invoice, but it was about £150.
  • 5x engine spark plug coils, Bosch ones from GSF (one had failed, car running rough, RAC recovered car for wife, decided to buy all the ones GSF had and replace as many as I could, kept old good ones, will be sold with car, £96.75
  • Front ARB drop-links, bought from BMW Sandal Wakefield, £65 (did DIY, made a specially cut back spanner to fit over ARB BJ chamfers so they don't spin, included in sale!)
2012:

2011:

2010:
  • BMW Oil service, Sandal BMW Wakefield on 16 June 2010 @ 75,752 miles.
2009:
  • New keys and valet key from BMW Sandal Wakefield, £126.
  • Intermediate oil service I needed for the 12 months warranty the trader threw in for me, 66,429 miles, £89 2x4l Castrol fancy LL04 stuff + labour.
Other bits and bobs:
  • Aux connection from BMW Sandal Wakefield
  • New first aid kit
  • M sport gear knob from BMW Sandal Wakefield (still have original)
  • Stubby aerial (still have original)
  • New filler cap from BMW Sandal Wakefield (rubber snapped)
  • Cruise control retrofit from BMW Sandal Wakefield (invoice to find)
  • New numberplates from Sandal BMW Wakefield, rather than the horrible ones from the trader that sold it to me.
  • New DISA from BMW Sandal Wakefield in 2009/2010, probably have invoice in my pile, but there is a thread on here about it any way)

Downsides:
The alloy wheels need reconditioning. The front pair are ok, but the rears need doing (Exel Wheels are so slow I'm still waiting haha).
The occupancy sensor warning light is present. However I have a brand new mat and underseat box (£200 from BMW) to fit.
The CD multi-changer isn't working. In fact it's got six of my CD's that I'd like back. It does work intermittently.
Despite still driving really nicely, the tracking probably needs doing after lots of recent suspension work.
Some feint bubbling starting on the offside arches, and possibly very feint on the nearside rear arch (I'll get recent photos up)
Some feint localised bubbling on rear wing tops where the roof meets the wings (again I'll get recent photos)

I find the process of buying cars a real chore because of the distances and time involved to find a car not as you expected. I've tried to be as thorough as possible about the car's state so anyone coming to look should already have a good feel for what they're coming to see.

Most people who've seen the car say it looks great for the age/mileage. I think it's in great shape for the age/mileage, but I know it's not perfect so it is priced accordingly.

It's raining and snowing where I live right now, and the car needs a good wash. The photos attached are from last spring, but I'll update with some recent pics and some of the interior as soon as the weather improves and I get chance to clean the car!

I live in Pateley Bridge, Harrogate. I'm generally free any time so please just PM me if you'd like to come see the car.

If anyone would like more specific details/photos of the car please don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks for looking.

Dave

So sorry to hear about your son.
Good on you making the donations. Very selfless and a great thing to do.
I will be directing a work college towards the thread. He can’t make up his mind to buy or not. But he would make a good custodian.
My little blue zed is in lots of bits. With lots of things started and not many finished! I may have found the limits of my time and ability!!

Sorry to hear about your son and dad.
This is both a massive and a fantastic gesture that you should rightly be applauded for.
With those seats in that colour and bearing in mind just how rare and expensive they are, you may well find a forum member buys it to nab the seats and then sells it on. I must admit I'd be tempted if red seats were my thing.

I’ll try keep the thread updated so people know what’s going on if they’re planning to come sooner or whatever else.

I’ll try get updated pics and interior images up asap too.

Cheers

Sunday viewing now not happening, too far away haha.

My wife was home late so no pics today. Possibility to get it washed and photographed tomorrow!

Now have Navid coming to see it on Saturday.

Did you have a Titanium Silver 2.5 before Navid?

Looking to return to Z4 ownership?

Cheers

I would buy it just for the seats but given the story and the fact the car is so well cared for I couldn't do it!

GLWS :)
