Z4 Coupe 3.0si Sport - Silver Grey, Manual

Post by Iggy » Tue Mar 30, 2021 9:42 am

It’s been an incredible ownership experience over the past 3.5 years and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed every second and mile of it. However, the time has come to part with my beloved Z4 coupe. The car has been cherished and much cared for in my ownership and that of the previous owners. It has been over-serviced and no expense has been spared on upkeep. It’s been my daily driver, mainly used for commuting (until March 2020) via the M25/A3 – so largely doing motorway miles. A few road trips and Z4 meets thrown in too of course! Would really want this to go to a forum member, though car is now on AutoTrader.

Sale is somewhat reluctant because at this point I know the car extremely well and have complete faith in it. I’ve never had a single issue with it and no nasty surprises – it’s been absolutely solid. Will be genuinely sad to see it go and I’ve had second thoughts many times while compiling this ad. However, I’ve got an itch for an M coupe and it’s one that I’ve just got to scratch! So on with the details…

General Info
- Current mileage is 72,100 and will go up slightly as this is my daily driver (though not driving much)
- MOT valid until Feb 2022 – not even an advisory for the past 5 years
- Registered from new in September 2006, built July 2006
- I purchased it in July 2017 with just over 41K miles
- 6 former keepers on the V5 with me being the 7th
- Filled up with premium petrol 99.99% of the time – mostly Shell V-Power
- Average MPG during my ownership has been 32.5. Had it over 41 during a long motorway stretch last year!
- Car comes with 2 keys, owner’s manuals with leather pouch, and a healthy stack of receipts & invoices
- It will be transferred to its original plate in the coming days – private plate is not included in the sale
- Located in Surrey

Notable Factory Specs
- 3.0si Sport
- Silver-grey (Silbergrau Metallic) paint
- Leather ‘Activesport’ black Sport seats (rare and honestly, this is one of the features I’ll miss the most as they’re super comfortable, grippy, age well, and don’t sag like leather seats do. Also means I never missed not having heated seats plus these are cooler during hot weather too)
- Multi-function steering wheel
- Brushed aluminium trim
- Electric folding mirrors (a pretty rare option)
- Rear parking sensors
- 10-speaker Professional DSP HiFi system
- Sat nav (updated with 2018 disc but never actually used it)
- Factory privacy glass on rear windows
- Auto-dimming rear-view mirror
- Cup holders
- Storage package with additional netting

Modifications
- Stubby aerial!
- Eisenmann Sport exhaust – good balance between great sound and no drone
- Veemann VC359 18" wheels
- Michelin Pilot Super Sports in the rear, Vredestein Ultrac Vortis in the front. Front driver-side has about 3mm left, the rest are 4-5mm
- CDV delete – the CDV will be included if you wish to put it back
- ZHP gear knob – original will be included in the sale
- Aux input (currently use this for a Bluetooth setup that works really well)
- Some cracked and scratched centre console trim replaced
- K&N air filter

Servicing
All servicing and most mechanical work has been done by TWG Automotive, Camberley during my ownership. The car’s never had an Inspection 1, only Inspection 2s (which includes everything in Inspection 1). I’ve brought it in line with BMW’s maintenance schedule so the next service will be an Inspection 1 which will be carried out before sale.

Standard Services
25-08-06 - pre-delivery check
10-12-09 - 17,868 miles - Inspection 2, Air cleaner element
30-07-11 - 22,231 miles - Oil Service
17-11-12 - 26,398 miles - Inspection 2
11-04-14 - 31,243 miles - Inspection 2
18-05-17 - 40,654 miles - Oil Service
02-11-17 - 44,890 miles - Inspection 2
09-07-19 - 60,662 miles - Oil Service

Brake Fluid
30-07-11 - 22,231 miles
02-11-17 - 44,890 miles
09-07-19 - 60,662 miles

The car’s had interim oil and filter changes between main services during my ownership which are accounted for in the included receipts. Also had various checks done at TWG on engine & gearbox mounts plus Vanos and general running gear which came back all clear.

Other work carried out in my ownership…

71,404 miles
- Valve cover gasket and single-use screws replaced due to slight sweating
- Both front brake callipers replaced (partially seized due to car not moving much during the recent wetter months)
- Front brake pads replaced for the same reason
- Front brake discs skimmed

68,400 miles
- Battery replaced for a Bosch S5

60,662 miles
- Rear brake lines replaced with custom copper ones

54,792 miles
- Replaced wishbones, front top mounts, front spring struts, steering rack, and a lot more. See below for more details

46,897 miles
- Rear brake pads, discs, and sensors replaced

44,890 miles
- Replaced gearbox oil
- Replaced gear shift lever, socket, and rubber boot (the shift lever was loose)

42,416 miles
- CDV delete

Bodywork
- Bodywork and paint condition overall is great. Some minor imperfections which you only notice when you look for them
- Had a brand-new front bumper, passenger-side headlight and front wing installed by Vines BMW Guildford at the end of 2018 with a thorough colour matching & blending
- The bumper has been resprayed again in July 2020 because I lightly scraped a curb with the bottom lip and just couldn’t live with it
- Whilst having the bumper resprayed, I also had the bracing bars behind the bumper resprayed in black and the driver-side headlight was restored, UV protected, and polished to match the other brand-new headlight
- A few stone chips on the bonnet and roof, nothing I can see on the front bumper at the moment

The car was hit whilst parked at the end of 2018. I posted a thread about it which you can view here. The full cost of repair (over £7K) was covered by the other party’s insurance and some other work on the unaffected side was also done to match the new parts on the hit side. I insisted on getting Vines BMW in Guildford to do the work because I knew they’d want to replace as much as they could for new parts. Though it wasn’t a fun experience, this resulted in large portion of the front end to be rebuilt and refreshed. The car drove noticeably better afterwards and got some shiny new body panels as mentioned above – so a blessing in disguise in a way. I’ve done about 20K miles since and have had no issues whatsoever. Overall the car's benefitted from £10-15K worth of maintenance, upgrades and refreshes during the best 3 years so is solid. And at least the history is transparent and in the open unlike most, so you know what you're getting.

Bad points
- Front driver-side tyre is at 3mm and will need replacing relatively soon
- Had an issue with the boot latching/unlatching which has been traced to the boot wiring loom. For now, the boot only opens with dedicated buttons on the keys or in the driver’s footwell, not with the other doors. Already booked in at TWG for April to have the wiring loom replaced (along with getting an Inspection 1).
- A light scrape on the passenger-side front wheel. Not very obvious though

£10,500 for forum members
Listed for £10,900 on AutoTrader

Photos below were taken after a 450 mile trip to Scotland last year so please excuse the flies :)

I was quite upset when I started reading this thread remembering some of your previous ones! :o

Then I got to your reference to the MC itch and felt much better! I first drove one in June 2019 and didn't decide quickly enough. Looked an one for another forum member a few months later and knew I had to have one, just not that one! Then in December 2019 I found mine and I absolutely love it.

OK it costs way more to run than my 3.0Sis did, but it's just so special.

So GLWTS, and the search.

I noticed you are in Surrey - I'm only just over the border near Camberley so if you want to root around one PM me.
Coupes because stunning!
Current - Silver Grey MC, Imola Red heated Nappa & carbon trim. Aeros, H & R Coil-overs, 224s, OE Strut brace, Nav, cup-holders, DSP Hi-Fi, pdc, cruise, MFSW, no CDV! E90 330i daily
Gone - Montego Blue
Gone - Ruby Black

Thanks Mr Tidy! Yours almost tempted me into the M club back in 2019 - it's a very special one from what i remember. Luckily you beat me to it!

That's very kind of you to offer! Thanks a lot :)
