Darren Wood BMW Specialist (NW)

Post by Popey » Tue Nov 12, 2013 8:10 pm

Just got my ZM back after spending a night and day at Darren Wood. I wanted then to give a few potential issues a look over and confirm if I did indeed have warped disks.

Well I now know I have warped front disks and I also needed 4 tappets for valve clearances which were also checked.

Top service all round and bar the brakes a clean bill of health. They were also loved my car.

Would recommend highly!

He is not far from me,and we do a little work now and again with him..

There a good lot of lads..

As regards warped discs..... its a bit of a myth, its usually bonded deposits on the disc surface. With braking sequences, this can be gotten rid of.

Unless the discs are heavily corroded of course.

I've been and they are willing to help but couldn't get to the bottom of the vibration I get in my car intermittently. I realise its intermittent and odd to reproduce but had hoped they'd have some thoughts on it. I gave them a few quid for at least getting it on the ramps for me and I think they'd be fine sorting out things that are obvious or for servicing but I don't think they're that equipped for some very specific issues like drivetrain vibration or whatever the bloody hell is causing this.

I've never had a warped disc.

I've had a 'warped disc' feeling after heavy braking over prolonged laps on a track day, but that's disappeared after a couple of days of normal driving.
