Garage wouldnt let us test drive until we agreed a part ex price.

Motor house of Shipley isn't owned by Evans Halshaw. This is quite common on 'exotic' cars which motor house tend to sell. Probably standard policy for them dues to joyriders. Cramag in Guiseley do the same. Avoid them too. Overpriced wheeler dealers in IMHO.

I've used Cramag for 15 years. They service all our cars and even fixed a fault on the 5 series which 2 local main dealers had several attempts at. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a car from them.

I think it's becoming much more comon withthe stack 'em high and shift 'em quick attitude. Pointless to waste an hour of a salesmans time just to find you expect £5k less price to trade than they offer.

That said I'd not negotiate until I'd test driven a car and mentally purchased it and had my list of faults to fix ready, so would just walk away.

What I don't like is how they often canabalise the cars they sell. I.e. I've noticed them change standard spec on cars such as changing wheels and trim to make other cars more desirable meaning two cars that aren't genuine. I find their prices as inflated as main dealers despite being 'specialists'. a few years back the salesman tried to sell me a car as an m sport that I knew for a fact wasn't an m sport but had m sport wheels added to it and m sport steering wheel.

I recall looking to test drive a 630i a few years back too which they wanted a £250 deposit before allowing a test drive.

Their prices are crazy for high mileage cars.

As I say, this is my opinion. Just offering it up.

You should read this months Evo. The S5 (coupe) was slaughtered by a 435i M-Sport. It was one of the most one-sided reviews I've read and it was written by Jethro Bovingdon who knows his stuff.
