no way are they allowed to bang the underneath with a metal bar.... i Always sit and hawk these guys like a stalker when my MOT is due and they lever against bushes ect ect to check for excessive play but never have they tapped the car, mine is exceptionally clean so maybe they dont bother??? BUT if they did id be concerned and would stop that happening immediately.... every MOT for me is basically me paying BMW for the techs to talk to me for an hour... they usually do 10 min of checks and then spent the rest of the time asking question about her
