I have had a goodwill payment authorised on a self fitted roof motor replacement.
Fault due to blocked drain hole.
Z4 2.0 SE - 06 reg, built 05 -40K
Bought privately No warranty Full BMWSH

Self documented work including photos - A £90 BMW dealer diagnosis before work commenced was probably also important (no good will on the diagnosis but worth it I reckon) They made no promises but came up trumps. It was probably half a dozen phone calls to get the ball rolling.
