B M Engine Works

Post by Philmadsen » Fri Nov 08, 2019 4:31 pm

Following a catastrophic engine failure in my 2006 Z4 2.0 I have found an engine at BM Engine Works in Rainham, Essex. They will collect the car from Swanage, replace the engine with a recon engine complete with a 12 month warranty. Has anyone dealt with, or heard of, BM Engine Works and are there any comments on them.
Thank you, Phil Madsen

Further research into BM Engine Works reveals a catalogue of scam evidence. I recommend caution in any dealings with them. Phil Madsen

If you can go to a garrage you know and get them to source and fit the engine for you. :)

Don't think I would let a garrage come and take my car away to fix it, unless they came with trusted recommendations and smelling of roses.

Hiya Phil,
I live in the next town from them in Romford. If you like I’d be happy to travel and have a look at the premises if it’ll help. Mark

Kind offer, but with a catalogue of scam evidence revealed online i wouldn’t be going anywhere near them!

What was the catastrophic failure on your 2.0l just out of interest?

It seems that there are some unscrupulous "reconditioners" out there who simply clean up recovered engines and pass them off as reconditioned :headbang:

I'm not very technical, but I understand that the problem was caused by failure of the oil pump. Something jambed up against the cam shaft which bent out of true and the end cam shaft bearing broke off. But it may also have had something to do with the valvetronic servo motor. My garage have advised fitting a replacement engine because the actual cause is unclear and to replace the head may justnhave a repeat and to strip and refurb the engine would be very expensive. I was just poodling along in a line of traffic at about 45 mph coming into Milton Keynes and the light came on and the ghastly noise started. The two places I've tried to buy an engine were scams, the first one cost me £2.5K so I'm now very suspicious. Any advice will be welcome.

Hi Woodrow, if you happen to be passing have a look at them, but I'm put off by the negative posts about them.
Thanks, Phil
