My thoughts too. Looks like the cream bit sits proud of the alloy as well, the marks look like plastic too. Strangewarmasice wrote: ↑Mon Jul 01, 2019 7:16 amMust be my phone. Diamond cut wheels can be repaired. I have diamond cut wheels on my 1 Series and have had a couple of wheels repaired just the outer edges for curb rash. The guy did it while I waited.

How did he do that while you waited? I was under the impression that diamond cut wheels had to be machined to give that finish?Silverstar wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2019 12:04 pm Diamond cut wheels can be repaired. Currently having a pair done that way with a paint guy who's busy 6 days a week with main dealers prepping the used cars this way ,
Keep re-cutting the face eventually means they can no longer be done

Not sure how he did it, I left the car with him went to the cafe next door for a coffee. The car's going back to him next week to get two wheels done again. Mr Wilks is right though it can only be done a few times. Luckily I won't have to worry about the wheels on this car again since I am giving it back to BMW in a couple of weeks.

I did not realise that small segments of a Diamond Cut wheel can be repaired as I was told in the past the whole wheel needed to be refurbished even if it is just a small section as they machine away the edge of the wheel?Silverstar wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2019 12:04 pm Diamond cut wheels can be repaired. Like I said not exactly sure how they did it but it was just the outer edge for some kerb damage that they repaired. The chap did say though that to do it properly so it is 100% you have to do the whole wheel. He said by just doing the outer edge you will be able to notice the difference a little if you really look closely but to be honest the difference was hardly noticeable at all.Mani59 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2019 5:02 pmI did not realise that small segments of a Diamond Cut wheel can be repaired as I was told in the past the whole wheel needed to be refurbished even if it is just a small section as they machine away the edge of the wheel?Silverstar wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2019 12:04 pm Diamond cut wheels can be repaired.
