I thought I'd pass on the experiences of using Paisley Freight who move Alloy Wheels and other car parts, namely a pair of front seats for my E89 in this instance.

After a simple purchase process from a forum member arrangements were made with Paisley Freight to collect them for the members work place. Sure enough the courier arrived accepted said seats and departed. Strangely only one was delivered, questions raised 'were is the other one'. Its been returned to sender as it was inappropriately packaged. Recollection will be £9. Further questions, how come your driver accepted both seats and why was only the one delivered. 'you were lucky' we delivered the one.
OK, asked the forum member to repackage, which he kindly did without complaint, rearranged collection and, yep you guessed, it was rejected by the driver. Recollection will be £9. Not once did they offer an explanation for rejection and definitely didn't make suggestions on what needed to be done. How many £9 do they collect in a day?

Several phone calls and emails ensued, Paisley Freight admitted in an email that and I quote 'The issue I have, we are at the mercy of our agents and their size restrictions, something I have no control over (Paisley Freight issue guidelines for packaging which is so open to interpretation I'm actually surprised they collect anything). 'Also we are only as good as the drivers that our local depots employ, considering we have 112 depots, the chances of having ALL drivers being top class is doubtful'. The forum member repackaged for a second time and following several rounds more they finally collected and delivered the seat without further charge.

I suppose the moral of this tale is, if you are using 3rd party couriers be very sure they have a good reputation. I sold a set of alloys, the purchaser used Paisley Freight to collect them and he seemed happy with them on our EBay feedback. I only wish I had investigated them further as I would have realised they have a catalogue of unhappy and disgruntled people.

Again, thanks Dave for not losing faith with me and my son (he took charge of the operation) and I'll put up some photos once I have fitted them.

I've used Paisley freight a couple of times and had good experience, that was to shift alloys. For a larger item I used "Shiply" which I have to say were very good. But it was actually a Post Office van which turned up for initial collection, don't know how that works, the driver refused collection pointing out that although the item, an E85 front bumper for another forum member, was well packaged the journey would be arduous and suggested sturdier packaging.
I got a local packaging firm to custom make a box which on 2nd attempt, the same driver picked up the bumper and actually complemented the construction of the box.
The point being was at least he offered constructive advise on initial refusal. In fact it wasn't so much as refusal as " I wouldn't suggest you send it like that, it may well arrive in bits"

So in summary, I may use these for any future requirements to send large items cheaply as at least in nthis instance they offered advice on how an item should be packaged, also bearing in mind the size of the package, they delivered very cheaply !

I've used Paisley twice for wheels with no problems but both were properly packaged which does take some effort and cost for materials.

You must assume whatever you are having transported WILL be launched by an ape from a loading bay or vehicle and land on concrete or other parcels and package accordingly or decide to collect. Wheels/tyres in bubble-wrap and a good box are pretty safe but anything else it a big risk. I received a Citroen wing folded in two a couple of years ago!

I’ve used Paisley freight for some wheels and tyres, they were very good, so the other week I used them to move a light single bed, utter nightmare, the driver was a complete imbecile, unhelpful, rude to the other party, refused to pick the bed up even though all it needed was the two small bed heads unclipping. After a call to them they said I needed a pallet, for a 20kg bed that came in 3 parts..???? Bloody useless, I got my money back and picked the thing up myself, I won’t be using them again.

I bought some wheels and tyres of bluecat (forum member) who used paisley freight to transport them from London to Lancashire, they were collected from London In the afternoon and I received a text at 9.00am the following morning saying that they would be at my address between 9.30am and 10.30am. They arrived at 9.30am no problems whatsoever.

my wheels came via paisley freight, no issues, well wrapped by op, and all arrived in good order

I think the problem relates to the fact that they use third parties depending where you are. As a consequence the quality of service varies. I believe they do have some vans for delivery local to their base. I wanted one of these portable garages moved and the lady at Paisley Freight had to contact their agents to see if it was possible. In the event it was too big for them to handle and I had to find another courier.

I've used them twice as well. No issues.
When I sent wheels they werent perfect, if they'd been refurbed or were in a good OEM state I'd probably try collect myself. Also my wheels were shed in rubber, this would obviously aid in their protection as well.

It would seem that Paisley Freight are very adept and the go to guys for moving alloy wheels but anything other than that seem to struggle. I guess it comes down to choice in the end and I’m afraid my choice is, I’ll have nothing more to do with them. Many of you would make a different choice and that is your decision. I suppose that in the final analysis I now have a pair of very good condition Red Leather seats (heated by the way) to help elevate my pauper spec Z to greater things.

ive tried to use these guys and my experience wasn't great and seems similar to yours OP... in the end i actually hired a van and went and collected the items myself.

Taxed and insured my van again for the same reason, bloody pain in the arse to deal with, I couldn’t be bothered, was easier to get my van on the road again....

Yeah not a great company to deal with in my experience and didn't seem to care at all... must be doing well enough to not need the business.

My thinking exactly, basically “Tough luck pal, take it or leave it, we’re not bothered either way”.

The tyres I got off a member from Scotland came on time with no hassle, I guess they’re picky. Ho hum....

How are people packaging up 4 rims for safe transportation?
Are the rims packaged together so they don't get separated and mis laid ?

I think I'll be getting some rims at some point and wonder how I get them delivered with no damage

Used Paisley Freight myself to collect and deliver my current alloys. No problem with the transportation itself, the only small complaint I had is that they don't issue an estimated time period in which to expect their arrival and the seller, having packaged everything up very well, wasn't happy to wait in for an indefinite amount of time and expected me to have some kind of divine power to predict their ETA and hurry them along.
