BMW Specialists in Ireland?

Post by Seanoog » Fri Jan 12, 2018 6:28 pm

Hello members of Z4-Forum.
I am new here, so please go easy on me. :)

Going forward I'll potentially be buying a Z4M in a few weeks.
As per the thread title, can members please recommend any BMW Specialists in Ireland?
I live in the North, but will happily travel to the south if there's garages you'd recommend.

I am aware of several recommended BMW Dealerships in Ireland, but I am unable to find any specialists with good reviews or endorsements from members that populate these forums boards. And I fear many of these garages that Google recommends wouldn't know their way around the S54B32 Engine or the car in general if I needed mechanical help.

Thank you in advance for your advice and feedback.

Hello Seanoog

welcome to the forum and don't forget to post pictures once you get your Z4M!

I got my car in Derry and quite disappointed with the dealer in Coleraine (they did not spot a number of issues and it cost me a fair chunk of cash to resolve them)...I live in Dublin and here there is at least one guy who is generally considered the "go-to" person for M cars. Feel free to PM me if you want more info.

P.S. it may be a good idea to organise a meet up here in Ireland; I know numbers are low but it could still be great

Hi gerryp & Attilio, and thanks for your replies.
Happily living in the surrounding area's of the Mourn Mountains. :D
And yes, I very much would enjoy having a Z4 meetup in the future.

Sadly been a little pre-occupied with work, and was trying to secure a deal with a dealer for a Z4M, but we couldn't agree on a price.
The dealer was offering a small reduction, but knowing full well the car needed a lot more work to have a sorted example, which would have been significantly more money for me on top of the purchase price. :headbang:

Can I also ask members, do you's know any good sources of information regarding the S54B32 engine?
I am trying to track down the recommended service interval for the Timing Chain, and the corresponding work that goes with it?
The best source I have is: http://mywikimotors.com/bmw-s54/

Attilio - Sadly I don't have PM privileges yet. Could you please PM recommend Specialists?
Or post your experiences here on the Forum?

Hi, I’m also in Ireland.

This guy does the majority of the super high end stuff in Dublin, (Ferrari, Porsche, lambos etc)...but is always crazy busy https://www.kenplantautotech.ie/contact

There is also this guy, Mark Allen in Straffan just outside Dublin...BMW Specialist.

I have used both over the years and can recommend both. If I run out of talent currently I use Mark and he is great

Hello Seanoog,

apologeis for the delay in responding. Coffee331 has already provided you with the info and in fact I just brought my car for a "tune up" to Mark Allen in Straffan since I received a lot of very positive feedback about him; I will add one from direct experience when I collect my car.

All the best

Hi there and welcome, I live in the Carrickfergus area and use a local BMW indy who is good, but there is another indy guy in Ballymena I used to use and he was good too, just a bit further for me to travel. That is as close to Derry as I can get you unfortuantely. If you need details PM me. Good luck
