North Coast 500 Road Trip (NC500)

Post by Keyper » Sat Jul 30, 2016 6:37 pm

This is it folks, prepping the Zed for our first ever NC500 road trip Whoop Whoop! :driving:

The Plan is as follows;

1: Arrive at Inverness on Sunday, staying at the Bught Park Camp Site for one night
2: On Monday we travel from Inverness to Applecross Campsite.
3: Tuesday we travel to Ullapool and staying at the Ardmair Point Campsite.
4: Wednesday travel to Durness and staying at the Sango Sands Campsite.
5: By Thursday still camping travelling to Wick and staying locally overnight
6: Probably by Friday we will be completely wrecked from lack of sleep, however traveling back to Inverness and staying the night.
7: Traveling back home on Saturday.

I have the official NC500 road map that has loads of stopping off points, but if anybody has some cool places worth stopping off to get some pics, please let us know :thumbsup:

Enjoy.
We had a short venture into Scotland this year and plan to do the NC500 next year. Plenty of pics and hints/tips would be appreciated.

My job involves druving the roads on the west and north coast of Scotland on a daily basis. Stop at Smoo cave just outside Durness, its pretty cool. Durness also has a world famous chocolateer. Turn left at the 90 degree right bend in the village. Of course everyone stops at the kylesku bridge for a photo, take the road to castletown from thurso and then go on the coast road past Dunnet head. Great drive. The west coast has some great hidden drives. If you have time, then a trip out to Achiltibuie is fantastic. As is the road to kinlochbervie. A detour from lochinver on the road round by Stoer and drumbeg is an absolute belter, but its very tight and twisty. Great in a mini!! Not sure how much fun it would be in a Z4. We did the 500 In my old mk1 mx5 about 3 months ago and took a trip over to Orkney. Some great roads over there. Hope you have a fantastic trip.
