Post by mason storm » Sat Aug 24, 2013 1:17 pm

The Mrs and myself are doing a long weekend in September in Snowdonia, I'm planning to do the Evo triangle but need to think of a few other roads to drive does anyone have any recommendations plus things to do or places to visit while we are there?

We will have all day Friday, Saturday and Sunday morning before driving home

Get hold of the Top Gear routes for the TOMTOM. One of my favourites is the stretch of road that climbs to Bala.... first thing in the morning on a clear sunny day, breathtaking ....

Am referring to the routes top gear use in their programs. A few years ago they released them on TOMTOM itineries not only for the UK but also Europe... and what fab roads they were

Just look up Bala & plan a route coming SE going NW to it, you won't be disappointed

Yep, agree with Jem, thats a brilliant road
if you want pretty scenery do the A4086 to Betws-Y-Coed.

Why is it that people who can't take advice always insist on giving it?

I'm off to Wales on Wednesday for a few days, 800 miles of epic roads - can't wait!

On my list:

Evo Triangle
A4069 Black Mountain Road
Llanberis Pass (A4086)
Horseshoe Pass
B4391 (Bala to Ffestiniog)

Few of those aren't too far from Bala although from what I can make out from Google Maps, you're never too far from a decent road anyway.

Have fun. 8)
