RRS Road trip -Isle of Mull and Loch Lomond

Post by ZermattV » Tue Jun 11, 2013 12:11 pm

With a spare week off last week and after a recent trip to the west coast with the Z4M , i came to the conclusion we were not getting over there enough- SWMBO and i took the RRS to the Isle of Mull and Loch Lomond. the Z4M was left at home as the roads on Mull are not very Zed friendly-single track with some decent pot holes in sections.

Had a great drive across from Aberdeenshire via Loch Tay and through to Oban to pick up the CalMac ferry to the Isle of Mull- used a lot of roads that were on the Perthshire and Argyll meets that Z4 Forum meets.

We stayed for three nights at the Highland Cottage Tobermory who's owner David Currie and his wife Jo are big Range Rover fans- David has a Full Fat Range Rover which was featured in Land Rover Monthly in December 2010. Jo is a fantastic chef and holds two AA rosettes and they have hosted the likes of Michael Winner in the past. http://www.highlandcottage.co.uk

After a day looking round Tobermory and a tour around the North of the Island , we booked a boat trip to Staffa and the Treshnish Isles - the scenery was simply stunning.

It was with a heavy heart that we left Tobermory and took the ferry back to Oban and then on to Cameron House via the rest and be thankful stopping at the Loch Fyne Brewery for some supplies

At Cameron House Boat House Restaurant we were treated to this view after dinner
