Box Hill Surrey - Should I?

Post by no1beyondfan » Thu Apr 18, 2013 10:25 am

Hey,

I am working near Kingswood in Surrey today and I thought about driving to Box Hill after work.

Anyone done the drive before?

What are the roads like? What is the hill like?

Box hill and the surrounding area are great - not driven up the hill though. Looks out for speed traps or bikers doing 100mph+ on the Mickleham Bends and also for cyclists going up the hill.

Maybe stop in Denbies vineyard for a slice of cake afterwards? 8)

Its good but you may be frustrated by cyclists dominating the tarmac. Worth a pootle to the top and a wander around if the weathers good at it has some great views.

I plan to go after 5, as the cafe and everything is closed. So hopefully less cyclist going up there then.

Not normally during the week but it's actively patrolled during the weekends because of bikers. The Bends are a bit like the Becketts complex at Silverstone.

I love Box Hill..I have done a few midnight runs up there...its the best time to go up there as you miss all the cyclist's and the views at night up there are incredible! Just be aware you might pass people doing...well what some people like to do in the woods in the middle of the night :|

Looking forward to the pics

Staying at the Nutfield Priory, so I was going to go do the two hills, and find some grub and head back to the hotel later.
