Re: Euro Trip June 2012
that sounds excellent - it's a long way to Croatia - I've been there a few times but not by car and love it.
My route back from Davos (base for doing Stelvio etc.) is via Silvrettestrasse then up Romantic Road heading across into Munich but only to visit BMW Museum ( no time for anything else this trip). Then heading back west to drive the Route 500 up towards Baden Baden.
Found this site useful for "best roads" etc.
http://www.ultimatedrives.net/routes/be ... routes.php
we're manging to do 5 or 6 of these -but not the ring on this trip - another time for sure.
I'll post full report, pics etc. later in June.

Re: Euro Trip June 2012
OK - we're just about packed and ready to head off via Newcastle to Amsterdam, Stuttgart to Davos etc. Excited but a little concerned about weather - the big day is coming Monday when we get to do Fluella Pass, Stelvio etc. Hoping for sunshine then.
Hope to be able to report back on succesful sticky steering cure and post some pics. Zed has MOT, all suspension bushes checked, new Vreds on the rear, pretty new discs/pads all round and even recent handbrake shoes ! It's not gonna stay clean though.
Tried the sound generator mod last weekend - easy to do and sound is gret but even with one piece of foam out I fear it's rather loud for the length of trip we have ahead (2000 miles) so put it back in - I may take it out for the Stelvio drive though - also have another smaller piece of foam I may swap.

All the best J&J - look forward to pictures and route details (might save me plotting routes when we go in August). Enjoy
Blue Z4C now long gone, as is it's replacement, and the Red Zed's gone too.. now piloting a rather tasty Carmine flat6
Re: Euro Trip June 2012
Providing my car comes back and all ok, I might plan a trip on my own, although not much fun, but will see if I want to tempt fate again.
Will defo not take ferry ever ever again, too painful an experience....Eurostar next time, much better organised. Will try for a leisurely drive and not 150 at every derestricted part of the AB. My mpg went down to 16mpg.....
And try not to set any records....800 miles in one day is not easily achievable......

Good advice NickNickm wrote: And try not to set any records....800 miles in one day is not easily achievable......
One of the mistakes people make on roadtrips, is to try and do too much, which can then make the trip or parts of it, a chore. Plus you end up exhausted for a couple of days.
Do less and do it better
Just my view of course.

Yip, have fun and enjoy it! And remember the photos. Don't let Ally's example make you think we'll wait forever for them
In fact, come to think of it, do you have a bullet cam or a phone mount so you can record the wee trip over Stelvio?
