Euro Trip June 2012
Hi
Thought I would outline Mrs Jax' and I euro road trip - destination Stelvio etc.
We're catching the ferry from Newcastle to Amsterdam
Driving to Stuttgart - visit Porsche museum
Driving to Davos, Switzerlannd
Driving 5 or so Swiss/Italian mountain passes Fluella, Stelvio, Livigno tunnel etc.
Heading into Germany - visit Neuschwenstein castle, some of the romantic road area, then head to Munich (BMW museum), Ingolstatd (Audi -yes we also drive on the dark side) - no time for Mercedes this visit, then the Spa town of Baden Baden, heading north back into Netherlands where we'll briefly visit friends then home - all in a rather hectic 10 days
Commments, tips, ridicule or recommendations all welcomed.

Very nice. Will be really interested to hear how it goes as 'The Guiseleys' are looking at a similar route.

Re: Euro Trip June 2012
Am off to Switzerland by bike in July, Neuschwenstein castle is on my list to see.
If do-able, go have a look at Hitlers mountain retreat at Berchesgarten an amazing place, amazing views and amazing route up the mountain.
Dachau is worth a visit too if nearby your route. Incredibly moving.
Furka/Susten/Grimsel passes in Switzerland all run back to back and are worth a day out.
Tip - whatever you choose to do, allow ample time. Trying to squeeze too much in too short a time can make the trip become a chore. Make the absolute best of what you can do, rather than rush more than you can do.....enjoy

Re: Euro Trip June 2012
If your heading to Baden-Baden try to pick up the Freudenstadt - Baden Baden route via B500.
It's one of the nicest stretches of road in Schwarzwald - lots of wiggly bits.

Re: Euro Trip June 2012
Thanks for responses.
Pics and report will of course follow jaRED/roofless
Lance - yes that's the dilemma - a vast collection of "must sees" but a strict 10 days and wanting time to savour them all - I will look at Berchesgarten and some other Swiss passes though probably skip Dachua this time - we've visited both Auschwitz and the Cambodian Killing Fileds/Museum plus visiting Berlin again this year so feel we've done our stint at some of the the world's most harrowing places - though I agree it's immensely important to visit such sites.
MalcMac (what was wrong with Bumper as a new forum name ?) - that's sounds like a good tip thanks - we can indeed take that route on way to B-B.
Keep em comin` . . .. .
