Cairngorm Passes

Post by ZermattV » Wed Jul 20, 2011 10:03 pm

Had a spare afternoon and early evening today so picked up the Keys and completed a set of passes which are well known to everyone up here but perhaps less well known further south.

Set off from Aberdeen through Alford and up the Lecht Pass .... It got very Alpine Like at the Lecht Car Park..

Image

After a quick break headed through Tomintoul and across towards Granton on Spey, The road is stunning here

Image

Image

I then cut through Nethy Bridge towards Aviemore .... big mistake whole road being resurfaced

A dull but sunny blast down the A9 to Bruar and then on for Fish and Chips at The Moulin Hotel just ouside pitlochry (honestly this pub is in scotland)

Image

Then across from Pitlochry to Join the Spittal of Glenshee road

And back home.............. well it beat Doctors this afternoon

Looks great. I had lovely drive from dumbarton too Killin then to coatbridge  this morning for work. Dumbarton to Killin at 7am was great, just a couple of slow drivers and tankers to pass. Even the Tarbert to Crianlarich was pretty clear.
Only problem I was in van instead of Z.
Still enjoyed the road :driving:

Excellent pics and fab little trip ZermattV - you beat me to it - we intended doing some of this route last weekend when we were scheduled to visit my sis near Alford but well dodgy weather made us postpone - now shedule to do w/e 6th August hope we get roads as empty as you !

Looks like a few nice roads - definitely one to keep in mind next time we're thinking of something to do on a Sunday!

Ok then another photo taken for rrsport but in the same area ... there is a small track which leads down to braemar gold club off the pass and should not be attempted in a Z4 this week unless your name is Sars..
