10 days to the Black Forest and beyond

Post by Davidcliff » Sun Aug 26, 2018 6:32 pm

Just back from 10 days of fantastic roads and weather in France and Germany, its very wet and crowded here isn't it . The Black Forest is magnificent and great to drive all those roads B500 and others in the car . It was good from start to end and we had a good adventure.
Its the second Europe trip we have done since we got the car and the truth is its fab and too small for us really. Its good for a day out but load up for a 10 day trip allowing the roof to be down and it all gets a bit small for a longer trip. When we did put the roof up 36 degrees or last bit of motorways home , it is just a bit small for us . I am 6'3'' and wife is a curvy lady ( think I can write that )
We will keep the car right now having only had it for 4 months and we still have the remains of the warranty so useful as a safety net but I think sometime before next trips we will have to get a bigger car . Don't know what though , just want a bigger Z4 really.
Car was great fun up and down all those mountains and on the smooth and empty roads. I need to go there on my Motorcycle next .

I went to the Black Forest and cruised the B500 back in June in my E30 Convertible. I had a brilliant time, plus had the boot space to allow plenty of beer and wine make the return trip !

14 days to Italy and back, 5 countries, no problem. You just need to know how to pack only what you need!

It was not the boot space that got us really , we took a lot of luggage and got it all in with the ability to open the roof every day bar the last stint up through France. Its just too small a cabin for us , and with the roof up I feel a bit constricted and boxed in.
Car is great , just after two trips of 7 and 10 days we have realised we need a bigger car for our adventures.
I may test selling it now just to see or wait until next spring.

We got back home from our annual Black Forest trip in Z4 number three on 16th Aug
We were away 18 days and I agree the zed is small but with the Roadster bags we’ve always managed.

We had high temperatures - 39° one day and it was a roof up air con on !

So I bought a 35is with all the toys to play with.
