Home-made Hardtop Stand

I recently picked up a hardtop for my E85, and pulled out the old hardtop stand I had made for my E36 convertible hardtop. It fits perfectly, so I thought I'd share details here for anyone who might not want to buy the generic hardtop stands from ebay...
Not exactly a conventional how to, but....
Here's the plans using measurements taken from another forum:

I had a local metalwork shop use those measurements and I ended up with this

A lick of paint and the addition of some foam complete it

The hardtop sits perfectly upright and is completely secure

Excuse the sagging headliner - I've already removed it and I plan on getting it re-covered soon

All in all, it only cost the equivalent of around £25 to put together.
Hopefully this post can inspire others to put together their own hardtop stand.

I was going to have a go using wood, but maybe I'll now look into metal with a local fabricator.

I made one out of 22mm copper pipe and then covered with pipe insulation .Removed the hardtop today ,I forgot how heavy it was as it had to go upstairs.

The hard top does get heavier every year!
