I was reading a few comments about checking the oil level.
I have a 2004 2.2 with the dipstick, do i check the oil when cold or hot and what level should it be on the dipstick the stick has 2 blocks with a notch out of the middle

when cold and it should be just below the highest block - the level between the lowest n highest is only a litre anyway.

the usual is warm up the engine properly, stop on a flat/level surface.. leave the car for 10mins(for oil to drop down to the pan) and then measure..

But if it hasn't been used for a while just check it on a flat surface, the flat surface is important as its amazing how a slight slope can affect the level.
