I am install a new Audiovox Duo into a 2005 Z4 2.5 and I have looked everywhere for the two connectors for my connection. I have looked through the trunk behind the seats and no joy. Any possible photo advice?

Open the liner of the front wall in the trunk. There is a hole in middle, through which the rear of plastic centre console storage box can be seen. In most Z4 roadsters with the CD changer pre wiring option the cables are to be found taped under the storage box.

DMIKE,

Thank you for the help. Maybe I am blind. I do not see any connectors. I have sent two photos that I took behind the carpet in the trunk and no luck. I also am wondering what the two connectors are that are in the second photo?

Roger

I recently installed a Dice media bridge a few days ago and found this video useful. 5 mins in is where he shows where the cables are.

I couldn't see the cables, but stick your hand in and have a good feel around and you'll find them. Mine were tucked underneath a metal brace of some sort.

Nick,

I have watched the video a few times and still no luck. The truck of my Z4 looks a little different. My battery is below the floor deck at the rear and it appears that the bracket to hold the CD changer (if installed) is on the left. The hole behind the seat is not as large as the one in the video. There are two connectors that appear to be coax connectors with nothing connected to them in the middle at the bottom. I have run my hand as far into the hole as I can and there are wires going in, however none seem to be loose with connectors at the end.

I am at a loss.

Thanks for the help.

After spending hours this past weekend tearing apart our 2003 Z4, my wife and I could only find the 3-pin connector bundled together with a coax cable. We had the trunk upholstery out and the speakers and center console out in the passenger compartment trying in vain to find the 6-pin connector. I think the coax cable is for connection to a cd-changer, but am not certain. In the mediabridge installation instructions, it mentions the need for accessories if a DSP amplifier is present. In our case, we have a DSP amplifier in the trunk adjacent to the battery. My question is, "does the coax cable bundled with the 3-pin connector run back to the DSP amplifier?" If so, life installing the DSP adaptor will be much simpler. If not, rat f@rts! Can anyone provide guidance on the installation? Thanks.

Do a search on google for a free vin decoder as that will tell you what the spec of the car was from the factory.
Mine is a 2004 and mine has dsp and the connector for the cd was taped to the bottom of the rear console and accessed from the boot as sugested

I finally found my connectors. Both the 3 and 6 pin connectors. I had to remove most of the rear center console from the interior to get to both of them and it took a while to get everything out of the way to find them. They were exactly where everyone said they were taped to the back of the center section wall. Once I found the connectors, the rest of the install was easy. Good luck.

The VIN decoder didn't seem to provide anything particularly useful:
VIN - 4USBT53463LT20867
VMI/VDS/VIS - 4US BT5346 3LT20867
Manufacturer - BMW Manufacturing Co LLC USA
Brand - BMW
Model - Z4 E85 Z4 3.0i M54
Engine - M54
Region/Plant - USA
Year - 2003
Check - 6
Sequential Number - 20867
Steering - L
Gearbox - N
Type - VT
Code - BT53
Work - 75
Art - A
ExtArt - Auto
Body - Roa
ExtBody - Roadster
Product - P
Date - 20030100

The one of the attached pictures shows the 3-pin connector bundled with a coax cable. Other pictures show the back of the radio, the digital amplifier, and other connectors in the trunk. The 6-pin connector is nowhere to be found. The media bridge installation guide makes reference to a need for a dsp adaptor in some circumstances. Somehow the output from the adaptor is supposed to get to the radio via a coax connection. Can anyone from BMW or AudioVox help solve this riddle?

Kenneth,

I felt the same way, however after I loosened the console between the rear of the front seats, I was able to get my fingers behind the unit and locate the cables. It took me a long time to find them and I gave up twice. After finding them, they were exactly where everyone else stated they should be. Good luck.
