Sitting in the drivers seat it the module to the lower right hand side of the mirror. You should be able to see the purple / white cable once you have removed the two part mirror base cover without stripping any tape.

Don't know if this helps, I have a pre- facelift with no cruise and I followed Number5s instructions to the letter and no problems at all.

In my 2012 5 series I followed the same process but used a green/orange wire, I think..
Recently, someone posted a key to all BMW's wiring colours in here. - Possibly Perry.

If you have a volt meter, its just going to be a case of testing each wire up there with the ignition on and the Neg to the chassis and seeing if anything giving 12v drops to 0v when the ignition key is off.

I installed //MikerW's dash cam in his 2006 ///M (Post face lift) and that wiring was the same as a Pre-Facelift model, so I don't know why yours is different.

Bought a 0806 + hardwire kit and installed it using this guide. Thanks Number5.

For reference, the screw for the GPS aerial grounding point is 8x16, ST4, although it's not very satisfactory using a self-tapper for an electrical contact and I think I'm going to tap mine out properly and use a bolt + locking washer instead.

Has anybody else set their dashcam up for parking surveillance? The 0806 is great, with the exception of the fact that the promised "parking guard" mount and firmware have never materialised!

There is supposed to be one, but it doesn't seem to be available anywhere, hence my question.

Still... decent camera for the money!

Number5, great guide and thank you. Followed the steps completely to the book (well almost*) and success first time! Exposing the violet/white wire was fiddly as there is not much room or light in that void but your advice of using a scotch block (Maplins) was bob on and I only needed to strip back a bit of the plastic so it exposed some of the wire. *I soldered an eyelet to the black wire and earthed it around the screw. Brilliant, thanks again. It has inspired me to get my soldering kit out again to sort out the Intravee wake up mod!
