syphic, not a regular poster I see, but when you do it counts! Great video, didn't even matter too much when it got dark.

The great thing was seeing the difference between the old and new units.

Embedded it for you...

Mr Syphic, top man! Thanks for the video.

Just removed and cleaned my DISA, 15 minutes start to finish. If you can change a wheel, you can do this. The torx fitting is a T40.

My car has done 66k, not sure if it's been changed before, but mine wasn't particularly dirty and although there was a little play in the flappy thing, it didn't give me any cause for concern.

Tip, remove the airbox lid, MAF and middle hose as one, just unplug the MAF connector. This gives max access to the lower DISA bolt.

Loads of access to the idle control valve, which I will attempt at the weekend, at a guess, another 20 mins.

Ok - while good that it shows the parts, it's a shame that he uses crappy tools, quotes the wrong size torx and takes no precaution about dropping bolts into the engine via removed hoses.
Follow, but take care..

Hi,

Iv performed the DISA rebuild kit repair but I'm not sure how successful it is. Does anyone know at what rpm the DISA valve should actuate?

Regards

Cmaza

I've read into this before, and been reminded by the post on the general discussion section to actually buy and install the i6 kit. The difference you feel will depend on how bad your old DISA was, if it wasn't performing properly then you should see (or rather feel) a difference.
That being said you might not notice any difference, even if your unit was falling apart. It all depends on how in-tune you are with your car. Possibly a bit of placebo affect, regardless you're more doing this as a bit of preventative maintanace and to ensure bits from an old DISA dont screw up the engine. Finally, I think the valve opens around 4000 or 4500 rpm.
