Both ends of the tube came out easily but when I went to put the end that goes into the car it didn't click in?

Does it need to click in or does it just go in the hole?

Not tried it yet as I want to make sure I've put it back together correctly first.
It won't click, it makes you think its not in properly and I like others keep checking it hasnt fallen out :D

That makes me feel loads better :)

I might try and locate it from inside the cabin just to make 100%.

It sounds great but mine seems a little different to everyone else's. It seems to peak noise wise at 5000rpm then tail off.

Just did this, took out the foam closest to the bulkhead - this could be done after step two (maybe I have small hands). Big difference! Sounds much more interesting.

I too have just removed the foam insert. Only had to pull the pipe out, no flat head required :D Much better in the higher rev range! Thanks!

Got my Z4 today and fancied doing this mod straight away!

Pulled the tube out at the cabin end and removed the small piece of foam from within. When I pulled the tube out it felt like it unclipped from something. When I went to put it back in though it's just a loose hole..... Is this right? I'm guessing no nasties could be suck in now the foams removed?

Certainly sounds better but I want more!! Think I might remove the foam from the other end as well :)

Did the rest of the mod today, all the foam gone! Just undid the jubilee clip at the engine end and pulled the pipe off, two min job at most!

Damn it sounds like a supercar, literally screams under high revs but I love it!

Don't your ears bleed above 6,000 RPM ? :D

I felt like I was hurting the car and stuck one bit back

Recently just put both bits back in and have not regretted it. It was good, but couldn't bare the broken exhaust sound. It was a bit much with a passenger too!

Do you think it hurts it any less with one bit of foam back in? :D

It can't actually harm the car though can it?

My mate did a video of me accelerating after the mod and if sounds insane!

Just need some more exhaust noise now....

I have removed mine for this very reason - although I liked the noise, when the noise tailed off it gave the impression that the rate of acceleration was slowing down. I have the 3.0si engine - anyone else have the same or know how to do this with noise right up to the redline?
