Sorry for the necro but did this ever get figured out?

I'm having a near identical issue (except it hasn't done it in any gear except 1st and on take off).

It originally was just a bit of shaking, I would clutch in and try again and it was fine. Today though on an incline, I had to try 4 times to get the car to go without shaking like nuts. Then it was 100% fine for the rest of the drive.

You could try a throttle reset, it sorted my judder out perfectly.

Turn key on 15 seconds. Turn key off 15 seconds then start the engine.

Cheers, tug

Current roadster is showing very early signs of this as well. I wouldn’t be too worried. I would just get the clutch done as soon as you can or if it feels like it’s getting worse and happening loads more often. can happen due to the springs in the dmf which get worn over time which causes play between the two plates on the flywheel. And also possibly the centre bearing as previously stated. Had these changed on my previous car and sorted all the issues that have been mentioned.
Hope it works out for you

It might be the air conditioning unit.

When on it can cause the rpms to momentarily drop which in turn creates a short ‘shudder’ when the rpms rise again.

I wouldn’t recommend replacing your clutch (+ flywheel) unless it is slipping.

There are several ways to test this, but the easiest is to stick it in 6th gear at around 30mph on a flat road. Then floor the accelerator pedal. If the rev counter rises at a much faster rate than the speedometer (ie the rev counter is increasing but the car isn’t really accelerating), then you have a slipping clutch.

But as said, no point swapping out your clutch if it isn’t broken...it’s not exactly a preventative maintenance component...

R60BBA,
Tbh when I did my clutch I had a look at the clutch plate and there was next to no friction material. My mechanic was pretty surprised as to how it hadn’t slipped.
From experience I gues you’d have 5-10k miles since first symptoms but of course depending on your driving

Easy enoughj! I'll give this a shot thanks :)

Re: clutch, I originally thought it might be related to it but my last "episode" the car actually shook even with clutch in and free revving. Previous owner also had a new clutch done not long prior to me buying it so might no be that.

I've done the 6th gear rev test as well as suggested and can report no slippage currently.

I'm actually starting to suspect it's a coil since I have had a slightly different, but consistent shudder before - 2nd gear, low rpm every morning on the same tight turn - and it ended up finally throwing a code after a few months (cylinder 4 misfire) and I found the coil had a cracked boot. Replaced it and it was fine.

Maybe i should just replace the rest to rule it out hmm
