As discussed in another thread, it was suggested that we create a list of all owners who have had springs break.

Me too. '03 3.0 , mileage 35,000, NSR , both replaced.

X3 04 3.0 mileage 36000

Last owner had mine replaced

Z4 2003 3.0

Replaced both rears last year at 40,000 miles.

Mine NSR was done on the Oct 07 MOT at about 40,000 miles, tis a June 2004 model.

Seems like a 35-45k lifetime so far, irrespective of age (given our sample range)

2 snapped rear springs when I bought my Z4 at above mileage at just over 4 years old


My springs may have been snapped at earlier mileage than this but previous owner was unaware...

I had 1 rear spring replaced "just" inside warranty. Car is Early 2004 and had done just 25,000 miles

I would suggest copying all our usernames into a list on the first post, with or without details. That way it is easy to see at a glance how many have had the issue.

OS/R broke at 22000 miles.

Gave up, fitted coilovers.

Ditto.

2004 3.0i, OSR replaced at Dec 08 MoT around 46k miles.

Got the springs repaired by a decent independent garage. When asking parts guy in a dealership about it days later, he told me that he knew absolutely nothing about Z4 springs breaking. Further along in the conversation, he discovered on his computer that he indeed sold the replacement springs to my mechanic. I didn't point out his conflicting stories..
