Bit the bullet and headed down to Durham from Dundee to get Dave and his son to move the roof motor to the boot as a preventative measure.
Top guys, offered a welcome cuppa after my epic drive and in under an hour the job was done, neat!
Dave reckoned the motor was changed before I bought the car 2 years ago. It was unmarked and as new. It was also bone dry! I keep the car outdoors and removed the rubber bung as soon as I joined the forum. I didnt remove the bung on the drivers side and Dave noticed the cavity was full of water, the advice is to ditch both plugs as soon as!
Drove down on the A1 and drove back on the A68, I had the road to myself, it was a glorious autumn day, hood down all the way to Dundee. £80 plus a tank of fuel, you know it makes sense! These guys know their stuff, Awesome!
PS had the pleasure of meeting Cherry M as well, what a gent!

Nice to know your pristine roof motor will now stay that way
I travelled from Preston and was very satisfied with the job - Dave and son work so quickly and efficiently. Even had a mini hoon and a bite to eat afterwards with cherrym - top fella.

Got mine done by Dave yesterday too, really would recommend him! Luckily my motor was in good condition and it's now going to stay that way.

Even my Golf that is 23 years old had the motor in the boot so why BMW engineers thought it was a good idea to place it in the water channel is beyond me.
