Is this the airbag control unit?
Following a bit of a shower with the roof left down I have had electrical issues.

Realoem shows it as part of the airbag system (the safety information module):

Re: Is this the airbag control unit?
Thanks markeg, I looked it up on realoem, I'm confused as I bought an airbag control unit from eBay that had the correct part number on realoem from an E60 but it's not the same (different connectors etc).markeg wrote:Realoem shows it as part of the airbag system (the safety information module):

Re: Is this the airbag control unit?
Are you looking at the right number? Ending 8264 below the yellow warning? Not the BMW-Nr one. This number does not appear on an E60. If your replacement part has this number and is from an E60, the label is forged.

Re: Is this the airbag control unit?
There are several parts to the airbag system. My symptoms are linked to the airbag control unit. it does not say on the yellow label that this is the airbag control unit. On real oem it states that this is the 'safety information module' .srhutch wrote:Ah, but you ask 'Is this the airbag control unit?"oli445 wrote:I didnt know airbags were made of metalsrhutch wrote:I would have thought the yellow part of the sticker told you
My question is a valid one, if you know the answer please say

If it's from under the passenger seat then I believe it is.
I'm only jesting, hope not causing any offence.

None taken. Just been very stressed with all the electrical issues I have, spent 4 hours stripping my car out to get to this part and the replacement 'airbag control unit' is completely differentsrhutch wrote:If it's from under the passenger seat then I believe it is.

Re: Is this the airbag control unit?
There are three variants shown on realOEM - is your replacement one of those?
- 01/2003 to 04/2004 matches your module pictured (65776938264)
- up to 06/2005 another module appears to have been used (65776939811)
both of these are "ENDED" which I take to mean discontinued. Another module is used up to 01/2006 (65776962767).
For the E60, the item is called the "Control Unit Airbag" but the part numbers are all different so I wouldn't expect them to fit an E85:
- for 09/2005 to 03/2007 module is 65779118931
- to 09/2007 its 65779145401
- to 03/2008 its 65779160558
(see http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?mod ... g=65&fg=65 for the E60 details)
All of these are also "ENDED", and replaced by part # 65779172019

Re: Is this the airbag control unit?
Thanks Markeg, looks like I have the one for the E60. Bought it from eBay and it was listed to fit the E85(item number 251020240070). I checked real oem before I bought it.
I now know where I have gone wrong, I have been a clot. It's 2006 onwards the part I have bought: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do ... fg=65&hl=5

Is this the airbag control unit?
Oli445 Did you ever get this sorted?!
I've discovered a fault with my safety info module and I'm having the same problem finding a replacement especially due to the connections being very different on all other modules?
Any help would be appreciated
