Plastic battery holder piece?

Post by steve_naive » Tue Sep 07, 2021 6:20 pm

I've just bought a new battery but it's smaller (242mm) than the one currently fitted (278).

Problem is I don't have the correct sized plastic holder, as detailed a few posts down in this thread:

viewtopic.php?t=84791

Can I temporarily wedge it in with some wood? Does anybody have the correct piece lying around, or maybe want to swap theirs with my smaller one and fit a larger battery?

Cheers, it's the bigger piece of the two that I need.

Could you put the part number on here please. I've looked for this on real OEM before and couldn't find anything.

dhobbs, the numbers are:

61216911025 for 70ah

61216916634 for 55ah

I think my new battery is 60ah so will need the latter.

Thanks for those. I have some hard foam in my battery compartment but would like to tidy this up.

I think I'll be going down the hard rubber root too for now. Sounds doable. :)

Be careful, an unsecured battery is an MOT failure :o

True enough but there’s a bit of room for lateral movement.

I ordered from here, part 3 50/55ah (if the link directs correctly).
https://bmwsupply.co.uk/part/details?se ... w=btdetail

20 odd quid.
