Roof Going Down By Itself On Unlock!

Post by Ruofdez » Wed Aug 04, 2021 11:00 pm

So this is a bit of an odd one. Most people are after the ability to open the roof with the key. The reason the gaptech is so popular…Well suddenly my car has started lowering the roof just from unlocking the car. One press of the unlock on fob and not holding it down.

All rather nice in the dry but could quickly get annoying in the wet when I can’t get in the car without the roof going down! Anyone ever come across this one? Locking the car seems to sometimes put the roof up but not always and will require me to hold the lock button down as normal (I have comfort mode enabled).

Plenty of people saying they can’t get the roof to lower with the key but what about the opposite where they can’t get the roof to stay up!?

I will disconnect the battery and see if I can get it to reset if it continues in case that helps.

If disconnecting the battery doesn't fix it try swapping the rearview mirror with a known good one. The receiver for the key FOB is in the mirror and it is what tells the GM5 whether you pushed the button once (unlock the car) or you are constantly holding the button (lower the roof).

Thanks for the replies. Will give battery a go as soon as I get a moment with it being dry! I think I’ve only got the one key unfortunately so not able to test with another.

If you've got a gap-tech fitted, maybe it has become faulty.

No gaptech. All very bizarre but after disconnecting the battery it’s stopped doing it! At least it was an easy fix.
