Post by Keekodog » Wed Jul 14, 2021 4:01 pm

My E86 has decided it doesn’t like its oil anymore and is leaking it out of the sump
The sump is rusty and needs replaced but i cannot find one (bmw have them on back order)
Any ideas where i could get one?

Leaking Sump

Hi,
I spent months scouring ebay and breakers trying to find a replacement for mine which had started to rust badly around the oil level sensor orifice. There are a lot out there being advertised as suitable (for the E85 in my case) but arn't, so beware. I ended up getting one from BMW Rybrook in Shrewsbury within a few days of ordering, but that was pre Brexit and pre Covid. Worth getting a new gasket at the same time and a set of screws as well as they are one use only.
Best of luck with your search,
Robert.

That's bad news OP, even if you aren't alone!

Here's a link to Robertltd2's thread on that topic - it might be worth sending "nick_l" a PM to ask where he got his alloy one from.

I picked mine up from eBay after finding it using a part number search. Seems to be out of stock but this is the one I bought https://www.partsinmotion.co.uk/sumppan ... 910-detail
