2004 Z4 roof motor repair

Post by bpparenteau » Wed Jun 23, 2021 3:27 am

Hi,
Roof motor failed. Windows come down, roof unlatches and stops. I tried the manual release. It mustn’t be working. I can get the roof down and back up but it takes a significant amount of pushing and pulling. I’m posting in the hopes that there is someone that could suggest a repair shop in the New England area that could repair. I’ve contacted many potential mechanics in the Rhode Island and southern Mass area. But no luck finding anyone to repair it. Anyone have any recommendations

Thank you

There's Mike in UK that does relocating the motor to the boot, maybe he can help.

Otherwise sounds like roof motor failure and needs replacement. It's a challenge to DIY if you're up for challenges.

There are a few people here in the UK (including Mike mentioned above) who can relocate, and often revive, roof motors, but as you are in the USA that won't help you!

But maybe this thread will be helpful, even if you need to get someone else to do it for you:- viewtopic.php?f=34&t=85266
