Brake squeal on new everything

Post by rays545i » Sat Jun 19, 2021 6:47 pm

Couple of months ago put bigger discs and pads on my z
Brand new ATE discs and pads and fully reconditioned calipers all round
Under light breaking they squeal not horribly but a little embarrassing
Not cheap pads not cheap discs

So bloody annoying
Any ideas

Cheers

Brake squeal on new everything

first and simplest point, have you got enough copper grease on the backs of the pads? I'm always a little generous and have never had a brake pad squeal in 30 years of changing my own

The pads are probably not tight in the calliper.

Did you put the anti-squeal paste in and clean the calliper properly?

Did you follow the break in recommend by the pad manufacturer?

Last year I did rear pads and rotors and the pad manufacturer had some pretty ridiculous break in procedure...which I followed. The brakes work fine, no squealing. I’m not saying that is your issue but just though I’d put it out there.
